Wife answered the phone without checking caller ID and she's a bad actress. I ended up going into work on my four day weekend, but the pay is good...I guess. Gonna have some beers to make up for being designated driver at the wedding last night.

Yesterday I went over to a friend's house and watched as he and my brother were trying to help pull down a dead oak tree. The thing is over 200 years old (I wish I'd gotten pictures) so it is huge, but part of it had already fallen off on the house and done severe damage (most of the damage has since been repaired). It took a long time and the guy doing the cutting had to use three different chainsaws. The tree was so thick around that at least half an inch of wood was left in the very center when the guy was cutting with 20" chainsaws. My brother and his friend were pulling on a rope which was attached to a cable that was wrapped around the tree so they could try to guide it in the right direction when it fell. It didn't go in the direction they wanted, but it didn't go in the opposite direction so it didn't damage anything.

I spoke with Dishnetwork tech support last night and they scheduled a technician to come out today. The guy had to ask for directions since his GPS was telling him to use a road that no longer exists (and has not existed for over 20 years).

The guy was very efficient and fast. He got right down to business and checked the wires, then went in and checked the receivers, then went back out and checked, replaced the diplexer, went in and checked again, recommended I get an electrician out to look at the wiring, gave me his number in case the diplexer died again, asked if I needed anything else, and went on his merry way. Service call was free because of Dishnetwork's warranty.

At one point he asked where the ethernet cable was because he was going to hook the receiver up to my internet and I said "Nooooooooo!" I have satellite internet which means I have a limit on how much bandwidth I can use per month. I do NOT want my receiver trying to hook to my internet and download stuff.

Oh yeah, before the technician came, my mother left a huge mess in the tv room so I had to clean it up. Fun times. I need to do some more cleaning once I stop feeling so winded. I will probably take a nap first, play Wartune a little, play World of Warcraft with my mother when she gets up, etc..

I need to transfer the pics of my bathroom from my phone to my computer and upload them tonight.

for now I'm going to take a nap.

Today I woke up with a horrific headache, so I got very little done.

I racked out and didn't get stuff done and didn't transfer the pics from my phone. Last night I developed a sore throat and this morning I woke with the worst sore throat I've had in years. I'm hoping it will clear up and that it wont be like when I was in Guam and had chronic throat/tonsil problems. The navy doctor gave me some antibiotics to which I was allergic but it didn't clear it up and when I developed white splotches in my throat I finally went to see an ear, nose, and throat specialist. He looked in and was shocked that I hadn't come in sooner (I had tried to get an appointment 3 months earlier but he was all booked up so I finally did a walk-in) and asked "Doesn't that hurt?" I had gotten so used to the sore throats that it was a minor thing for me. I only went in then because the splotches concerned me.

When I moved back to the mainland US I had my tonsils taken out. It was really weird to look in my mouth/throat after that. I wish I'd been able to get pictures. They burned the tonsils out so at first it was charred black, then it developed a white film, then it turned a green tint, and eventually it returned to normal color. (I have a fascination with stuff like that)

So anyway, I feel kinda crappy today and my brother is still sick and keeps puking. He's lost 30lbs so he's down to like 338lbs now.

I need to remember to upload pics and junk.

Austin, I hope your headache clears up.

Btw, are we allowed to use images in our signatures?

Today I took cold medicine and will belaying down.

Kids in school means toxic germs that make me horribly ill.

Working on bidding a large project and then will be bottling and kegging some beer.

My throat feels better today but I think my sinuses are protesting. I still feel tired. I'm going to have some tea and saltine crackers.
I will probably take the laptop into the TV room so that I can be a bit more social with my mother. All she does is sit at home playing computer games and she doesn't leave the house for weeks.
She likes to watch some TV shows that I can't stand (like those Housewives things and the Karsashians). I'll watch DIY and HGTV with her though. I like Holmes Makes It Right and stuff like that. I admit I really do enjoy Antiques Roadshow because I like looking at old furniture and I like the history of things. I really like it when they show it from the UK because they get older pieces there. In an age when there is an increasing push to build things to be obsolete in a few years, I have a great appreciation for stuff that was built to last and has lasted for centuries.
I'm going to try to remember to upload pictures today.

Wow, that is awesome, Chris!

I like the surface of that table on which the beers are resting.

My internet went out the other night and my connection has not been very cooperative, but I finally uploaded some pics of my bathroom and plan to make a thread. I need to figure out what the maximum number of pictures allowed per post is and then tackle it.

Also, I managed to find an old picture from the late 80s/ early 90s from when I had a ton of cats. It's 26 kittens on my couch (some of them are piled up next to my sister)

I wish I could remember most of their names. I remember Spot, Data, Worf, Adrick, Turlo, Dinah, Frankie, Adelade, Cindy, Pavi, Tasha, Patrick, and Patricia from that photo. I had 63 cats named before I lost track.

I am trying to finish off my current keg of bud light to make room for my home brews in my bar.

Today I am smoking some chicken and ribs. And of course still trying to empty that keg.

I miss the chicken and ribs we used to have at my late elderly friend's house. He had an old wood-burning stove out in his workshop and would do some of the cooking on it. The chicken was always well-done (he grew up in an era where medium rare or even medium cooked meat could get someone sick) but still had enough moisture and was delicious. The ribs would fall off the bone and were always so good.

Today I woke up to strange sounds on the porch and discovered that my douchebag horse was loose. He was on the porch with one foot in the dogfood bowl and had knocked over the dog food container and was eating it. I ran out and told him to get the f- out of there and he was so offended that he turned around and headed out the front gate into the woods. I didn't have shoes on so I couldn't chase after him. I called him to come back but he decided to leave.

If he comes back (which he usually does) I'll have to restock his senior feed. I just ran out of it and hadn't made it back to the feed store yet. I will have to check the fenceline to figure out how he got out in the first place. I know my cows get out too, but they leave the dog food alone. They just do a lot of grazing so they don't really hurt anything. The horse, unfortunately, is a destructive bugger who likes to take tools and run off with them and he deliberately breaks stuff just to be a jerk. The only good thing he did was he went and woke my jerk neighbors up at 3am by getting in their yard and knocking over their feed barrels. Ah, sweet justice. At that point in time the neighbor still had over 15 dogs tied up in my yard and refused to remove them and they were barking all night and keeping me awake. He had the gall to gripe at me about my horse waking him up. I gave the horse some treats for that one.

Meanwhile I'm trying to get feeling well enough to drive to the store to pick up more medicine for my brother. He can't get rid of this post-nasal drip crud and I think he still has bronchitis. I think the pneumonia is cleared up though.

Today I read a bunch of stuff online and sat in my chair watching movies.

It was a good day.
