Neighbors always seem to be the worst thieves.

I has me a brand new crown and even got my toothers cleaned. That little thing sure was expensive!

I hate dental work almost as much as thieves.

I had a neighbor that worked for me and things always ended up missing and people kept breaking into my bar and stealing booze. Also my neighbors had things missing too. I confronted him a few times but with no proof I could do nothing. After he moved away the problems stopped immediatly and since then nobody has had a problem. Wonder if it was really him?

I hate that scratching noise against my teeth. It's the worst.

Either that or a neighbor that knows when he's won and stopped when that guy left.

My neighbor used to be a tenant-- the one who didn't pay rent for 5 years when we were overseas. Did over $60k worth of damage to the property and robbed us blind. The cops actually knew he was growing marijuana, filing false claims against our house insurance (which cause us to lose our insurance), stealing our stuff, and running a dogfight ring in our barn. But none of them ever bothered to contact us or give us a heads up or-- you know-- arrest the bastard.

We had 1,000 feet of oak boards before we left and we told him not to touch them. When we came back it was almost all gone. I have a huge long list of grievances against the guy but it makes my arrhythmia act up if I think about it too much so I know I just need to let it go. Every once in awhile he still pops up to pretend he's friendly. Like he intercepted a package from FedEx for us and convinced the delivery person to let him have it so he could bring it over. In the past we've had to go get our packages from him and some we never did get. But he wanted something from us so he pretended to be friendly. I promptly called Fedex and reminded them for the 20th time to NOT ever give my packages to the neighbor-- especially since I was home at the time. Any way, he "generously" offered to mow my lawn with my own bush hog-- but it would require loaning him the tractor or the bush hog. I told him the tractor wouldn't start and he said he could take the bush hog off and attach it to his son's tractor. Shyeah.. He ruined the old tractor we'd left when we had to go overseas. And our good neighbor told us about how he borrows large tractor equipment and either breaks it or claims it was stolen. I politely declined and said that I can mow my own lawn. Now I need to get the battery replaced in that tractor.

On a side note, I was going to help a friend today but he had to watch his kids while his wife went out somewhere so he couldn't work on it. Good thing since its really hot and humid today. So we ended up going to feed the cats and I was able to catch the ailing cat and take him to the vet. He needs to have stuff put in his ear twice a day for a week. So he's in a cat carrier on my bed right now. He was scared at first, but his one-eyed sister ran up to see him and they seem to remember each other and had a happy reunion so he started eating and is currently grooming himself. His sister is sitting just outside the carrier. I don't want to let him run loose because he might get under the bed and be hard to catch. I want him to slowly get used to the room. Thus far the other cats that are allowed in are accepting him.

Right now I have an old gray tuxedo cat with long fur (Captain Fluffy), the one-eyed orange tabby (Ginger), the new orange tabby (Rupert), and a classic tabby (Predicate). Predicate seems to think that I'm a tree and likes to climb on me. I'll be standing somewhere and he will jump on me and try to get up to my face.

Havasu, I'm glad you got your new crown!

Dental work is no fun, but I hate getting blood drawn more. The biggest nuisance for me on having dental work is that I have to take large dose of antibiotics an hour before a cleaning or any type of work. Also, I inherited a very high tolerance to pain meds/anesthetic so it takes a lot more than doctors normally give to actually work. I first discovered this when getting a heart catheter and the anesthetic flat out didn't work at all. Good thing about the dental work is that they put that numbing stuff directly on the gums first. I just sat as still as possible, pinched my leg to distract from any pain in my mouth, and listened to music in my head. It was actually rather relaxing. The only bother was they would ask me how I was doing every two minutes, which would interrupt my relaxation. I gave a thumbs up and went back to listening to music in my head.

I have to say I am very glad that my father had a great dentist when I was a child. The guy let me go in to the exam room when my father was having his teeth looked at. He would let me look into my father's mouth-- would even let me hold the light and would tell me about the different teeth and such. Then he would let me sit and watch (out of the way) when he worked on him. I thought it was all very cool and I was never afraid of the dentist.

And here I go babbling again. LOL.

I went to work at 4 am and got home at 8 pm, gonna go do it again tomorrow. I am swamped at work.

Today-- or technically yesterday, I spent hours trying to figure out why my internet was not working. ISP scheduled a service call on Monday because my bandwidth is just being eaten up and I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary. Nobody was using the internet at all for several hours and it said we loaded 200Mb. The ISP said something was clearly wrong and gave us 3Gb of data. Previously they had given us 5Gb of data and that got used up. There was a service outage in the middle of the night and I started having problems again when I finally got it working. I basically had to shut the modem off for 10 minutes and then went outside to trim some tree branches. I need larger tools for some of the thicker ones. There are these trees with thorns that grow like weeds.

I took a nap and woke up to Rupert pretending he was R Kelly. He soaked my favorite blanket, my leg, my snuggy, and the mattress pad. I can't be mad at the poor guy since he's never been an indoor cat and doesn't seem to understand what the litterpan is for. He no longer likes other cats though, but I'm going to have to get him used to them again.

After cleaning up the mess I took a nap and then went to get mail and go see my friend. I went armed with some long crow bars and a 65cc Husqvarna chainsaw. It was more powerful than the chainsaw used by the guy my friend hired to cut the tree up in the first place. It needed oil and to have the chain tightened but we couldn't find the right tools so we made a trip to Tractor Supply. He fixed it up and got it working and at first it went through the oak like butter. It's a very large thick oak log. Since it is not perfectly round we ran in to some problems and the chain dulled so it became harder to cut and the log was so thick we couldn't get it split all the way through. The pieces that we did split off were so large that we couldn't roll them. Eventually I suggested using levers and fulcroms from nearby lumber. We used some smaller logs as fulcroms and some 4x4 posts as levers. We made some progress but we really needed some sort of wedge as the crowbars weren't working. There is a piece on the trunk that prevents it from splitting the way we needed. We had to make a trip to Autozone and two more trips to Tractor Supply for various parts. The chainsaw rain out of gas at one point so we had to get the gas and oil mixture.

After several hours our friend was too tired to keep trying to use the chainsaw and my brother proved he can't be trusted with it so we called it a day. But we are close to getting it done. Tomorrow he has other things to do so we won't be over. But when he calls us back, hopefully we'll be able to finish the job. Or the guy he hired (who is a very nice guy who lives out in my neck of the woods-- literally out in the woods) might be able to finish the job if he gets the chain on his chainsaw replaced (it broke cutting the log).

We may still be needed to move the the logs. I wish we had better tools for cutting because the oak wood inside is lovely. It could make a nice table top or something.

On a side note, a guy stopped by and asked who owned the house and wanted to know if my friend had someone hired to do the wiring (bc the tree took out the circuit box and wires). The guy said he would do it for $35 an hour and it would take him maybe 2 or 3 hours-- saying the longest would be doing the internal wiring. My friend was exhausted at time and didn't really think about it until after the guy left. He said that the guy is charging less than the guy he was going to hire to do it and he may call him back. I pointed out that he didn't know if the guy was licensed-- but he told me that he knows the guy and that he is basically a master electrician (I'm guessing he must be well known). I'm going to have to get the guy's name and number so we can call him and find out if he'll give us the same price. Is $35 an hour reasonable for an electrician? Last time we called one we had to pay $125 to have a fried wire in the meter box fixed. It took less than an hour.

For a licensed electrician 35 an hour is a steal. Out here they go from 55 to 85 easily.

Ok. That's what I thought. When I told my mother she made a gasp or something and said that he must not be licensed if he charges that little. I sort of wonder if maybe that is not his usual rate and he was offering a lower rate out of kindness since my friend was in a crap situation with having his house crushed by an oak tree. Or maybe he works very slowly to compensate. :p

I'll have to be certain to confirm the guy's name and find a way to look up whether or not he really is licensed. I know that the department of health had resources that listed licensed septic tank installers. Which group would have a list of which electricians are licensed and insured? I need to find out how to look that stuff up. Calling the local City Hall would be absolutely useless because they employ clueless morons there.

Usually your state government website will have a list of licensed contractors. At least here in FL there is, as all contractor licensing, even local licensing, has to go through the state before the locality can issue a license.

In ca it is easy to look them. I have worked for less then he is asking when work is slow or I am more of doing a favor but I would still make sure he is licensed.

So I am sitting at a dodge dealer doing paperwork on a 2013 charger rt hemi. Here come the speeding tickets.
