In hindsight, I should have had my wife give him an Oo-mox, or ear massage, because we all know what that does to a Ferengi.

They backfilled to bury the top of the septic tank so only the risers stick up. The deeper they dug on that project the whiter the sand got and the harder it was for it to not collapse inward.
It looked lighter in person than in photos

This was when they were partially done.

As an aside, I was watching a Perkins Builder Brothers episode on Youtube and they brought in a black plastic septic tank that looked too small for the size of the house and it looked like they were using Infiltrator Systems segments for the field lines.

Friend is renovating the bathroom of people across the street. They have been having health issues and he found out they didn't have a working bathroom so he's been helping them out. He did drywall today.

This is the vanity that will go in. Obviously the top is not on correctly yet.

When my air handler was removed I was able to take photos inside the air circulation compartment. Still have the old PVC and CPVC going up to the water heater. The corroded copper under is the refrigerant line. I don't think it is leaking from there since it would most likely leak at a joint and nothing has gone in there to damage the pipe.

Does new stuff for HVAC in terms of pipe layout count as plumbing? LOL.

This shows where the condensate line goes underneath. Looks like there are some mini studs in the way of where I want to put the new grille. So either we need to keep the location in my brother's room or need to move some studs a little. There's support directly under the water heater so hopefully that won't be a problem.


I need to vacuum inside that compartment.

LOL, Jeff, that was the very first thing I noticed and I was like "Well, the top hasn't been installed yet" and friend said it's actually upsidedown. Friend said the vinyl flooring is very thick. Said he's going to use my toilet jack to move the toilet and finish the flooring where the toilet goes.


I'll have to dig up earlier pics but that bathroom was dark, dingy, moldy, and gross before my friend fixed it up. The guy had a heart attack or something and they had not had a working bathroom for a year and the wife was super stressed all the time. Their marriage has improved and both are much happier with my friend helping them. He's a good dude. Sadly, they don't know me so I don't get to go paint. LOL.

Was washing dishes and heard water pouring under the sink.
I'd had the doors jammed shut with stuff in front to keep cats out because the old hinges don't keep the doors shut properly.
Saw this:

This held for almost 10yrs after I did it-- still need to modify it to add a vent and go to sch40 pvc going through the floor. Top nut would turn on the elbow but the bottom one to let me bring the pipe up was stuck. Even my brother couldn't get it. Friend went and grabbed a $5 oil filter wrench, came out and fixed it in a couple minutes. It took longer for him to put the knee pads on than to get the pipes moved and together. Not sure why it shifted like that. Apparently it's been leaking for awhile bc the bottom of the cabinet is collapsing. I'm going to have to replace it but I think I have a chunk of plywood in the hallway that can be used.
No pics after it was fixed. I need to deep clean under there.
The pvc water supply line is not connected to anything. The pipes for it under the house ruptured a few years back.

Me too. And man, I'll be having to post pics of the bathrooms at the house my friend is buying. One bathroom has a pink sink, another has a green sink. It's very retro. I completely forgot to look at the plumbing under the sinks though. House was made in 1976.

I dont remember those colored sinks in the 70s, in the 50-60s yes, along with clamshells.

I like the clam-shell sinks. My mother said she remembers them using colored sinks, tubs, toilets, and appliances in the 70s. Said they often had harvest gold and avocado green.

The cabinet doors are all on crooked but they are solid wood. Friend will be giving me the knobs and pulls when he renovates. Or when he takes the pulls he has in a box and puts them on. The wall switches and GFCI outlets are new-- he installed them. Old ones weren't wired properly and were the stab-in type. Sink doesn't drain and I saw that the trap arm slopes upward. Easy fix for that, but the bottom of the cabinet is falling so that will need to be fixed. A 2'x4' plywood sheet should work.

Here in my hood the HOA requires every home being sold to go through a complete inspection, top to bottom and side to side, and major structural items be fixed so that the buyer is aware of everything that is possibly wrong.

No HOA around here or anywhere near where my friend is moving. It's rural. He's trying to get an FHA loan. The banks require inspections to find any major issues.

Speaking of HOAs, I got a dunning letter from them a couple of months ago saying that there is mildew on my deck and it must be cleaned off by November 11th which I submissively accomplished.

Yesterday, a neighbor's gutter down spout, which I have been watching gleefully over the last few years as it became disconnected from the gutter system and began tearing away at the mounts on the side of the house, finally detached itself completely and was dangling precariously over the next yard with kids playing in the yard. I snapped a pic and sent it to the HOA asking why the covenant enforcement Nazis hadn't spotted this before had the homeowner correct it before it became a hazard. The HOA thanked me for my concerns and said we cannot detail what the HOA does with other homeowners.

I never got around to a before picture, but the bottom of this cabinet had collapsed from water damage. The trap arm went upward instead of down. I believe my friend fixed it. Got him a 1/2" piece of pressure treated plywood to repair the bottom. He painted it with Killz and cauled all of the seams.

I think the blue tape on the left is to cover the wires going to the dishwasher or from the garbage disposal. Not sure which.

Inspection will be sometime this week I believe.

Does it look like there's teflon tape or pipe white thread sealer closer to the tee? Trying to figure out what this thing is so we can replace it. Says 1/2 so friend thinks that means 1/2" and the line coming out the other side looks 1/4" to me.

or does it look like it has reducers attached to it? Anyone know what can be used to replace this? And best and safest way to clean up that copper?

Get new 1/2" Threaded ball valve , Just get another threaded ball valve, Everything else will unthread. You can replace the reducing bushings if you want.

It is an FPT brass ball valve, ½”. Easy to unscrew and replace, be careful not to twist the pipe. Reducers on one end, followed by a flare fitting. There is a ½” male adapter on one side. You can use steel wool to clean it all up. You will need either teflon tape and or thread sealant on the threads.
