You probably know what I am going to say, but just think how the firemen will feel while trying to find your mom when your house is fully engulfed because a cat ate one of the electrical wires, and have caused a fire.

Don't go out to Micky D's for just one day and get that room clear of obstructions. Do it for your mom!
My brother had promised to clear it up but he doesn't keep promises. He's claiming that when he quits his job on the 17th that he will help me with cleaning. He's prioritizing his room but I'm going to try to convince him that his room will be easier to clean if we get some other things cleaned first and I will help him with his room. If he gets his room cleaned up enough to get his new desk put in, we can clear up some space in the front room.

Fortunately, the one cat who used to chew on wires no longer does it. She got out of that phase. But I get your point. I've been slowly chipping away at some of the trash in there but will need help to lug it all out. I already have a few trash bags to haul out but considering I fell into the trash can and fell into the bottle pit, I want to recover enough that I'm not going to fall again. My friend has offered to come over to help at some point too. I still need to assemble my trash bag holder. I have the PVC for it, just need to cut it to size and make it. Found plans for it online. I'll try to find the link again later. It was an old post on some forums so I don't know if the OP was still there to answer questions about the cut lengths of the PVC.

Been catching up on rest today but plan to start filling a 55 gallon bag with the trash I can reach while seated on the couch. That way I'm less likely to topple over.

Just saw Mom walk by so she will probably want food soon.

In the process of having a big tree removed. It kinda bugs me because it seems just a few years ago I'd be doing it myself. Just getting to old with to many afflictions. First guy showed up, looked it over. 3600.00. Thought I'd fall over. It is a big tree but 3600 ? Another fella is comming today, we will see what he says. Here's a picture... I figured 1000-1500. I figured wrong.

Seems that dentists are the latest doctors who have learned how to profit heavily during these hungry years.

My dentist wanted to pull two teeth that needed root canals. After adding cadaver bone and studs, waiting for 3 months, a new crown would be added. His price was $8,000. I went down the street where the dentist completed root canals, then added crowns. His price was $3200, but my insurance paid half, so I was out of pocket $1600 and the entire ordeal lasted one hour.

I, too, have had a couple of implants done. In my case, both teeth were shot to hell and there was nothing left to put a crown on. One required a bone graft, aka cadaver bone, and the associated cost and wait time. Strongest teeth in my head, those, but never again.

I sure do love the new digital technique for obtaining impressions and so does my gag reflex to those medieval trays of goop!

I had one that had a crown / root canal, it broke off..
I said screw it and just had what was left yanked / pryed out.
No pain comming out, but wow was I hurting for weeks after.
Had to sign a waver that included that they might break my jaw...
Good grief.

Ahh.. New quote for my tree 2400. Much better.
Just a young man that does it all manually, chain saw and ropes and caries the stuff off to his trailer manually. Cuts the giant trunk up into manageable pieces. Might be my guy...
Got one more quote to get.

Get a rake and a leaf blower and open up all the doors and windows

You must be a little sad having to drop such a good looking shade provider. Your lawn does have a good spot to land it, right? So he doesn't have to spend all day climbing and limbing from above. (but maybe a few limbs on the side near the house!) Maybe $1000/day is not enough for some?most? guys, I'm just wondering how many days it will take the young man to finish.

The position of the tree actually does not put much shade on the house. Maybe in the very late afternoon. But I would rather them climb and limb it. And actually prefer a more manual clean up... no big machines tearing up the yard. Oh, it's one day and done

I had a couple of days where I couldn't stay awake for a full hour. Headache, feeling exhausted/cruddy, etc. Feeling better now. Infection seems to have cleared. I finished antibiotics. Have a followup tomorrow. My balance is better. It had gotten bad enough that I fell halfway into a trash can while cleaning. LOL.

Bro has been helping with carrying groceries. Saturday is his last day at work. He's going to take some time off and try to get his foot/toe to recover while he waits to hear back from the security job. If they don't hire him within a month he'll go for another job that was guaranteed to him by a manager there. It's more work and not as good pay as the security job, but he'd be able to transfer to security in a few months and he'd qualify for the casino's health coverage.

Since my brother taught me how to cook steaks on the stove I made steak and potato for Mom. Also picked up Chinese food yesterday. I talk to the owner there and he's a nice guy. I told him how I'd been sick recently and he was worried and asked if I got a scan (he meant MRI) an I told him they don't do that for people who don't have insurance. He said that back in China if someone needs to be hospitalized they have to pay up front to stay and if they can't, they don't get to stay.

I'm trying to remember how much it cost for trimming our big oak tree and reinforcing it. I think it came out to something like $12k but it's massive. That might have included trimming a 2nd tree as well. Been so long I don't remember.

Fippy was climbing on me last night because Mom went to her room and he wanted to be let into her room and was letting me know. He makes this weird noise and wags his tail when I say "You want to go see Mommy?" Although, before that I found just the right spot to scritch on his head/neck that made him happy. He'd been fussing/growling before and I got him to stop by finding the itchy spot.

Got up early this morning-- covered in about 7 cats. Thought they wanted food but they already had food. They just wanted cuddles. Couldn't find Boo or Rupert so I went out and called them. Rupert came to me. He meowed more times in 30 seconds than he usually meows in an entire week. He climbed up me and wanted to be on my shoulders. I held him until it was time to go to the store. I was worried about Boo but he finally came back in. He's sitting on my old derelict computer. I gave him wet food and dry food and held him until he had to get up and go to the litterbox.

I didn't sleep well last night so I'm probably going to take a little nap.

I hate it when I don't sleep well (which seems to be often) just can't get comfortable or something hurts and just roll back and forth all night.
Glad your recovering, try to take it slow.

I haven't been able to sleep well in twenty or more years. Go to bed at 10pm, fall fast asleep almost immediately, only to wake up at midnight or some other Zero-Dark-Thirty time of the morning. Prescription meds don't work, neither does alcohol, etc..............

Some of it is a very active mind... shows intelligence or crazy 🤪... I've tried all kinds of sleeping pills. Currently the doc has me on lorazapam.
I'll be on that till I die. Even if wanted off.. it's a benzo, so withdrawl would be terrible.

If I had to venture a guess, in my case it's "crazy". I have a veritable pharmacy full of things prescribed and tried but have little to no effect of leave me so "druggie" in the morning that it's not worth it. Maybe too many cat naps during the day, etc.

And on a completely different topic, @Zanne, what do you know about Toxoplasmosis. Since my daughter has a new cat, indoor only and never getting out to eat forage for "bush meat", etc., is there any reason to think the cat's got that particular bug? Is there any way a vet could screen for it? Thanks in advance!

Let’s see. Set up dad’s new iMac, then prepped the old one for sale. Went to visit my elderly aunt on Cape Cod; fixed her dresser (drawer came apart) and then went to lunch in Hyannis. Bought her a new iPad and set that up.

She complained of a “leak” in the basement. Turns out that the threaded joint by a sprinkler head was probably assembled with insufficient pipe thread sealant. No visible dripping but it’s clear it does drip now and then; looks a bit wet if not oily at the joint. Told her to not worry about it. Any potential fix would be costly.
