I’m interested in a hansgrohe metris tub spout (picture attached). My existing moen fixture covers a tub spout copper pipe that definitely won’t go into this (similar picture attached). I’ve replaced these things on my own in the past but this new fixture probably needs a professional? I’m curious how it would be installed - as in, would the pipe be cut to size or completely removed etc. Thanks!

your image shows a brass, 1/2" pipe nipple. The nipple can be unscrewed.
A different size nipple may work.
We ONLY install tub spouts that have a "easy adjust" adapter that allows for use of a nipple and a mating adapter on the spout with 1" depth adjustment

As stated the pipe coming out of the wall is a brass nipple. It will unscrew. The threads on the spout look abnormally large, what size are they, does the spout come with an adapter?
