My dad died 15 years ago today. He was also in WWII, in the Pacific. I posted about 50 pics of him on his cemetery memorial page today, and sent links to my family members. The email and texts I've received have been running wild today.
We thank him for his service.

The 15 year anniversary of my dad's death was in March this year. I feel for ya, Havasu. No matter how long its been, it still hurts. Holidays are especially tough.

Today is my favorite aunt's birthday. I think she's 72 or something now. Mom asked me for her number so she could call her.

Got up early and went over to help my friend do demo on the workshop addons. Brought my brother along and he was actually helpful. Although, he went inside while it was raining as friend and I continued working.

Friend's wife came over so brother was inside talking to her. They used to work together so they are friends. The 12-yr-old was home alone and friend got an alert on his phone that smoke detector went off. He reported it to 911 and drove home at over 120mph. Firemen were already there (they are about 2minutes away from the old house). Friend rolled up and hopped out. Cops stopped briefly, saw the fire truck, then turned around and left. Guess they figured out it was an emergency. Turns out the kid forgot to add water to her ramen and the ramen burned but nothing was damaged and there was no fire. Just a lot of smoke. And that is a brand new microwave that just arrived yesterday evening. Poor kid was crying her eyes out feeling terrible and thinking my friend was going to hate her. I continued to clean up and pull out nails while friend calmed down.

We got most of the front part taken down. I'm sore and exhausted.

Yesterday we made a lot more progress on the demo. Had more people show up to help. Got there before 10am (would have been there before 9 if my brother had not taken so long to get his butt in gear). He spent most of the time walking around talking to himself, whining, and criticizing me. He became more helpful once his former supervisor and her husband showed up to help. They were helping in exchange for my friend changing the husband's headlight bulbs.

Friend also stopped to install a new radiator for a relative of the previous tenants of the house. We found more photos and family stuff that we gave to her to take with her. A deer jumped out in front of her and busted her radiator and headlight. Friend put new radiator in and put in whatever fluid goes in and had her test it and told her she could bring it back to him if she needed help. She was extremely grateful. He saw the condition her car was in and offered to do it for free if she paid for the new radiator.

Having his old supervisor and the husband there motivated my brother to show off so he started working more. Before they got there when I asked for help he sniped at me. He also accused me of wasting time because I was tearing shingles off the rotted wood, but friend said the shingles can't be burned and have to be hauled off but the wood can be burned. I ended up loaning my gloves to the former supervisor (she is also friend's co-worker currently). She's pretty strong. She was wearing flip flops and her husband teased her about it. She ended up going barefoot and was punching aluminium panels off of the rafters once we got the rafters down. I pulled some beams out with a chain and my truck. Demo is 99% complete so next step is some repairs. Brother put a hole in the wall that wasn't supposed to get busted, roof needs to be cleaned up, and we need to haul off shingles and non-burnable debris and get the rest hauled to the burn pile and torched.

Friend's mother tricked my friend into giving her the address for the new place saying she'd bring over a tarp. She did not bring a tarp. Instead she brought the 4-yr-old and dumped him on us when she knew we couldn't watch him. She was mad that there was nothing for her to pilfer. I went and picked up all my tools to keep them out of her reach and all of the good lumber had already been hauled off by a friend of hers.

We finished after 4pm and were all exhausted and sore. Haven't had pizza in awhile so I decided to order us some. Brother has the app on his phone but I was paying for it. Brother had a little tizzy fit because I wouldn't let him have a whole pizza to himself. He wanted to either order an extra pizza all for himself, or just order one that I couldn't eat bc he wanted it with pepperoni. I hate pepperoni and it makes me sick. I wanted mushrooms. He loves mushrooms but wanted pepperoni more (we were getting a deal on one-topping pizzas). He called me a selfish B and whined that he always has to be the one to compromise (which is absolute BS) and how unfair it is that he couldn't get the topping he wanted. I pointed out that he could eat the mushrooms but I could not eat the pepperoni and it wasn't like I was getting something he hated or couldn't eat. I also repeatedly suggested ordering half pepperoni and half mushroom but he ignored me and kept going on about how selfish I was and how poor him he never got what he wanted. As an aside, when he cooks family size meals he will often put in ingredients that I can't eat. And lately he'd been making food that was supposed to be for all of us that Mom couldn't eat bc she didn't like what he put in it and he kept putting that same stuff in after being asked not to-- even though she paid for it. He was spoiled rotten growing up. Always got his way. Would cry or have a tantrum until he got what he wanted and Mom always caved to get him to be quiet. I underestimated how small the "large" pizzas are these days. Not that it mattered much bc there was so little cheese it wasn't even visible and it didn't even have a whole handful of mushrooms. Fewer than 10 mushrooms on 8 slice pizza. At least the crust wasn't so bad but I still fed it to the dog.

Brother calmed down after he had a shower and ate but he never apologized. He's got main character syndrome so badly I don't think it even occurs to him that he should apologize for his behavior. In his mind, I'm the villain and he's the poor Cinderella character who is always treated so poorly bc he doesn't always get his way.

Sorry, venting. LOL.

Bro went to bed after we got home and ate and I had to stay up to feed kitties and cook for Mom and then I was able to rack out. Still being lazy and in bed with kitties piled on me.

@Zanne , you have quite the drama going on there. Some really great neighbor stuff, and some really wild drama stuff.
Talking about pizza, there is a spot Gere we liked to go to, we always got thier special , 16 inch 5 toppings for 19. And lots of toppings. But, last time, it tasted a bit odd to me,but just kind of rolled with it. Took the leftover home, next day heated it up and found this big knot of wadded of black string .. can you say yuk ? Maybe part of a hairnet, or who knows what. Lucky we didn't get sick. Won't be going back there again.

The large pizzas are only 14" here and it's $10 for one with 1 topping. It's $15 for the same size with two toppings.

Twowaxhack, is that a water filter?

That pizza came back to bite me in the middle of the night. Acid reflux. Woke up burping up bile. Bleh. But some Pepto helped.

Brought some stuff to friend and met his new helper. Local hardware store owner knows where the place is because he has some family out there. They will be friend's new neighbors. He said it's a nice neighborhood with nice people. Didn't bother with my brother bc I didn't want to hear him whine.

Who was it that said "That which does not kill me makes me stronger"?

As for pizza, we have stopped placing orders with Dominos that totaled about $70 and, like @havasu, are now opting for the ones from Costco.

Don't belong to Costco, maybe I'll try sams or bjs.
But the better half likes to go out and not deal with dishes.
So, I'll have to start looking. But domino's, Pappas John's, I don't think so.
Used to eat little ceasers...

Everytime we go to Sam's, it seems to be a minimum of 100.
Even if there is only 3 or 4 things in the cart.
We use it, but it bugs me .
Bought a strawberry, blueberry, raspberry pie there, 12 bucks, but it was huge, and I very much liked it ! I need to stay away from the bakery section, big giant muffins too, 4 bucks for 6. (My wife cuts those into 3s, and freezes them)

How ironic. I just mentioned to my other half that I need to make a run to Sam's Club. I need salad dressing, bananas, Skinny Pop popcorn, and another $200 worth of crap. Some items are 30% cheaper than Costco. I shop them both.

Wife can't go into sams without buying the giant pack of toilet paper , I bet we have 2 years worth ! :) costco is to far for us, there supposedly going to build one closer, might have to check it out.
Bjs used to have a bunch of organic stuff we would get. But I think the demand petered out, as there isn't much anymore.

Anybody remember GEM, Government Employees Mart, back in the day? We were members but didn’t work for the government.
Are you referring to Gemco? We had one down the street from us. It was I believe one of the first membership stores. I would get paid a nickel for every cart I brought back into the store. We made $5 a day doing this. When you are 8-9 years old, this was "big bucks!"
