I think its possible the wires got damaged or came loose. I'm hoping its just loose wires and that tightening them will fix it. But I really do need to fix up the system. Need to flex seal the roof of the shed, remove un-used cables, get some working GFCI outlets in there for lights, add a disconnect box for the pumps, etc. I'd like to figure out how to add some sort of sensor so if the cistern's water is empty or too low the jet pump won't try to pump air. I also want to add a shutoff before the pump so I can keep water from pouring out while working on the pump. Right now that is tough with all the couplings though. Also want to raise the pump so it is above or even with the inlet side pipe. Want to put an anti-fatigue mat under the pump so it dampens the vibrations a bit.

Picked up mail, grabbed food from a local place, took cat to the vet, had to call in power outage and tree down on the lines. Thunderstorms are making it difficult to do much.

Friend was going to work on my truck today but the thunderstorms said NOPE.

Cat's eye looked pretty bad, but fortunately, the eye is OK. He has a wound above the eye that formed an abscess and is draining pus into the eye. Poor thing. He got it cleaned a little and got antibiotics. If it doesn't get better I'll have to bring him back in and they will sedate him, lance it, and neuter him.

UPS was supposed to deliver the pump today but they pushed back ETA to 8:30pm and I'm doubting they will deliver today. Probably not even tomorrow since it will be raining. They don't like coming out here. Friend can't work on it until Monday anyway. So, looks like I'll have to siphon more water when the lightning lets up.

note to self: "don't get abscess above eye or I may end up neutered!" 😳

He's due to be neutered anyway to reduce the territorial pissing everywhere and the aggression. There would be fewer fights if all the males were snipped.

Just woke up to a loud thunk sound. It was the jet pump being dropped on my porch by UPS. Box says FRAGILE but I don't think the person set it down too gently. I was able to pick it up, bring it in, and set it down without making any loud thunking or thumping. Hope nothing was damaged but I'll check in the morning.

Good luck getting your infrastructure back up and running!

I'm just curious, what does that operation cost ? Neighbor has 5 that need it done. I don't think she has the money for it.

Morning all. Had yet another leaking sprinkler valve. I rebuilt it and it still leaked. Seems I have to replace these stupid valves every 1-2 years. This time, I Sawzall'ed all the valves off, then added "quick twist" unions, so when the next valve dies, I now just twist off the old one, then add a new valve, with no glue. Hopefully this should make my job easier down the road.

Put the union on the outlet side of the valve. This way you can’t develop a 24/7 leak at the union as it’s only subjected to the reduced pressure when the zone is active.

Unfortunately, the previous owners of my house poured concrete around my backyard irrigation pipes, and they are stacked so close, I am unable to thread the high pressure side permanently, since I don't have the room to unscrew the high pressure side.

Ok so you need to rent a jackhammer and get rid of some concrete. It’s getting late in the day but if you’d get up and get moving you could get a good start. Post some pics ! Love ya 👌🤣

I love you too bullsnot. Yes, I do need to get off my arse, but someone has to work these forums to keep the riff raff from infiltrating. How about the next time you are taking your private jet to deposit yesterday's plumbing takes, why don't you drop off a few jack hammer's at my house and spend a few minutes and take care of that for me? :money: :grrrr:
