Was doing some cleaning earlier and discovered that my brother had been dropping food/sauce whatever into one of the drawers that doesn't shut properly (tenants messed it up) and it was FULL of roaches. From tiny to monster size. Its a breeding ground. He'd also been stuffing food items in it instead of putting the stuff in the pantry.
Scary stuff! We go berserk when even a single solitary ant wanders across the counter top!

I think those drawer slides are pretty much obsolete. You might find them on eBay.
I found similar stuff, but I really don't like the style. I want to replace it with something different but am trying to figure out how. I will probably have to enlist the aid of my friend who has longer arms and can probably reach in farther than I can to the cabinets.

Took out some trash. Napped until my oldest cat woke me up. He was checking up on me. Need to do more cleaning and get pictures of the track and stuff on the drawer. Under a pile of cats right now though.

I used to play with insects as a kid and when we lived in Virginia my parents used to take us to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History where we got to see all sorts of creepy crawlies. Mom completely freaks out about roaches. I don't like them crawling on me or my stuff, but they don't scare me. They annoy me.

Slept most of the day, but I did get up at my alarm to take my vitamins before rolling back over. Been trying to take my meds on time by setting an alarm. Up late at night bc its easier to be awake when it is cooler than when it is hot. Friend is supposed to come over today to help with electrical.

I'm also thinking ahead to trying to find the source of a leak in the outdoor lines (I had to close the shutoff for that branch & don't know where the leak is or how to find it). Hoping my friend can figure out why there is water on the floor in one spot in the kitchen, but it is away from the sink so it makes no sense.

You're up early! At the risk of sounding flip, do you know a water witch? They've been known to be able to find leaks and good places to sink wells. OOPS! My bad. The leak is in the house isn't it or do you have two leaks? (PS. When we find mysterious water in the kitchen, it's usually the melting of an errant ice cube that missed the glass and hit the floor.) Good luck finding the leak!

Potentially 2 different leaks. One under the kitchen sink. And then there's another on the outdoor waterline. We have a main line that splits into 3. One goes to the barnyard/back fields but as far as I know, all of those have been capped due to ruptures-- it also seems to go to the spigot out front where we park. That's the one I wanted to use for washing the truck and hosing off the AC unit. But somewhere on that line is a leak. When my dad ran waterlines with PVC he didn't bury them a whole foot deep as far as I know. The 2nd line is another outdoor one. Not sure what else it goes to, but it feeds the water for the cow's water trough. That is the only working spigot but it is permanently hooked to the float/filler for the trough. The 3rd line goes to the house.

The mystery wet spot on the kitchen floor is nowhere near any ice or water source. I wonder if the dog is pissing there when I'm not looking. I'm noseblind to stuff so I have no idea.

Don't know a "water witch". Other than my best friend, almost all of my friends in town have died or moved away. I don't really know many people anymore.

Friend wasn't able to come over. Got a stomach bug-- possibly from his ex & her people at the toddler's 3rd b-day party on Sunday. The ex decided to have the party in 103 heat outside and the kid threw up. Then this morning friend's gf came home from work sick & throwing up. Last I heard from him he said he was nauseous but able to keep stuff down. He was worried it might be contagious so didn't want to expose us to it.

Been sweating my butt off bc yesterday my AC got stuck in heat mode (the reversing valve wasn't switching) and tried to cook us. Apparently the default mode is heat and it was like an oven inside. Brother's room got up to 113°F. Couldn't figure out what was wrong-- went through all sorts of troubleshooting. This was following a power outage the day before. Spent that night without working AC. Changed filters, poured bleach down condensate line, cycled through modes on thermostat, changed settings on thermostat (realized it was set to single stage & needed to be set to 2 stage), reset breakers, let it sit for hours to try to cool off. Nothing worked. Contacted company that installed outside unit and he walked me through some of the steps to try to fix it and then managed to find someone who was able to come out. Had my friend over to change out some light switches. He watched the repair guy working on the outside unit.

Turns out it was something the tech had never seen before-- one wire wasn't pushed into the molex connector all the way. Somehow it had come loose and wasn't making contact with the pin. He pushed it in and everything works now.

Was absolutely exhausted after all of the heat though. I did manage to haul out some trash and clean litterboxes in the heat. Refilled a heavy waterer for the living room. But my back hates me. LOL.

Today I'm waiting until HD curbside pickup opens up (after 11) to go get my weedeater that was on a labor day sale.

What's that saying, "If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all"? Glad it was a simple fix and I hope before he pushed the pin back into the Molex he pulled the pin out of the Molex and gently spread the "fingers" that keep it captive.

I am not sure where you are but I hope the Idelia doesn't hit you.

Hit 106 yesterday. I was out working in the yards, cutting, mowing, edging, trimming trees, cleaning pool filter. Nearly passed out, until I saw the temp gauge and realized why. That can be deadly for an old guy like me.

Rheems reversing valve is only energized during heating mode. I like that because unless it gets stuck in heating mode, which is rare, you still have cooling if it fails.

9-10 months out of the year I’m trying to cool things off and it usually doesn’t get that cold here for long anyway so heat isn’t a big concern.

If your reversing valve energizes during cooling mode then it’s being energized for most of the year around here. If it doesn’t energize and reverse then it’s in heat mode.

Havasu, I'm glad you didn't have a heat stroke or anything. Today it was around 95 and it actually felt cooler. I was saying to a friend how I can't believe that 95 is now considered cool in comparison to the weather we'd been having. Speaking of weather, our local (well, for the area that I get news from) weatherman died of cancer. He was only 40yrs old.

Been trying to clean litterboxes more frequently but having trouble since I have arthritis in my hands/wrists.

Got my brother to help me clean up in the living room-- of course he griped the entire time and had initially left after 2minutes of helping but he came back-- which really surprised me. He whined I was moving too slow. He was saying he could do the cleanup faster (all I asked him to do was hold the trash bag open/up for me and take the bags out when they were full. Found out he just dumped them in the front room right where I need to walk so I will have to haul them outside later. He didn't even clean up half of what I cleaned up, but we can now get to the TV without experiencing children's ball pit feelings with all the empty water bottles.

Also used a 12qt dishpan and a fish tank filter/pump to set up a larger drinking fountain for the kitties. The tap water came out a bit brownish and about 30min later it is clear bc the filter works pretty well. Hopefully the cats will like it.

Went to Walmart to get mom's rx, bread, and some other groceries. Forgot to get the RX. Derp.

I'm about to take a nap now.

Just finished helping a neighbor install a Level II charger for his electric car. Required about 90’ of #6 copper wire (x4) in conduit. Half of it buried. Two penetrations into/out of the home and into detached garage. Had to rearrange a few circuits in his exterior panel and change to tandem breakers to open up two positions for the 50A dual pole breaker. All in and now a 6-8 hour charge instead of 30 hours with the 110v charger. By doing this together we saved him thousands of dollars.

Just curious how much that 90' of #6 copper wire costs these days?

Ha ha ha, plenty! It was $117.00 a roll of 100’. Needed three rolls, red, black and white. Used #8 for ground, green. That was $75. My neighbor is a Navy veteran so he saves 10% at Home Depot and Lowe’s.

We could’ve used aluminum wire at half the price, but that required going down to #4 for the conductors and #6 for the ground. We then would’ve had to upsize the conduit, and use some special fittings, etc. It’s also not easy to find aluminum wire, except at an electrical supply place where we do not have any accounts, so it’s at full list price.

They keep that wire under lock and key at the big box stores. Too many lowlifes stealing it.

Anyone know much about battery backups for computers? UPCs or something. Been having problems with my new APC brand ones shutting everything off and beeping or straight up turning off while plugged in and power is on. I've read something about inconsistent Hz causing some issues but am not sure. I wonder if they are set to be too sensitive and if they can be programmed to be less sensitive. Also, I need a new UPC for my computer because the one I'm using no longer stays on when power goes out.

Dog was sick yesterday so I had to take her to the vet. $299 and some change later she was back home. She's feeling much better now, but she was afraid of the thunderstorm earlier. Power went out for a few hours.

Not sure I even want to know what they are charging for cables/wire in my area. Going to need some though. Wish we could afford an electrician to redo all the wiring, but would probably require tearing down walls. We've got wood paneling everywhere instead of drywall so stuff can't just be patched.

Went to Walmart for groceries. Came back and found my brother had pulled the full trash bag out of the can and tied it off, but left it in the way. I should be glad he did that much. He doesn't think he should have to take the full bags outside though. He leaves that to me. Stomach still isn't feeling great, but at least my dog seems fully recovered.

I've got five APC UPS systems from tiny 750VA up to 3000VA. Which one and VA rating are you having problems with and what do you have plugged into it?

Wow! Because of the size of your menagerie, have you ever considered Obamacare for Pets?
