Just bought an American Standard 0451.001.020 Corner Minette 11" Wall Mount Bathroom Sink.

What is the function of the 1" hole pointed to by the arrow in the photo? There is no corresponding 1" hole on the other side of the corner.

It can't be for air intake to the drain, since there are already overflow holes inside the basin.
It can't be for mounting, which is done by fitting the horizontal gap onto 2" metal hangers attached to the two corner walls.
It can't be for securing the sink after mounting, which is done through the smaller hole on the lower left (there's a corresponding hole on the other back side).

Pardon my newbie DIYer ignorance, but the supplier is not respondong. Thanks for your thoughts!

that hole is for a wall carrier to support the fixture

I doubt that. there would have to be another hole and the arms are 90 degrees .

That hole is probably just a casting hole. you often see extra hole is Vitreous China castings. The over flow has it's own channel connecting to the drain.
