I just did an inquiry on why BSBC would not pay for her services. They claim this is not a necessity so this is why insurance doesn't cover them. But why is it I have gone to a few dermatologists and are a medical necessity?

Thats odd indeed. Maybe she’s not a preferred provider or otherwise out of their network. All the stuff I get done by the Dermatologist these days are covered because of my history with cancer. Well, the surgery to fork my tongue wasn’t covered….. 🤣

With my BCBS, I am not stuck within my network. In fact, I don't even need a referral. We both have been wondering whether she would take us if we had one of those show worthy events? I do know, that a few times a year, production trailers block the parking lot, which is when she is/was doing filming? I think those who volunteer for her show get everything comped?

Well, yesterday, my father passed away. He was 94, had a good life.. even a month ago he had his tree climbing gear on and cutting limbs.
But Leukemia came out of nowhere and got him.
I say this mainly because, you need to get everything in order as to who to call to report it. And be prepared to be on hold for hours.
And the cost of what you would think is a standard funeral, it's crazy 30k plus. , much better to do cremation if you can do that.

Mom has BCBS and they sometimes try to refuse to cover doctors at a preferred hospital bc those specific doctors aren't in their network. It's actually illegal for them to refuse to cover under those circumstances but its so common that the hospital has fliers out informing patients that it's illegal for insurance to refuse to cover. She's had to call and argue with them. She's also finding that the hospital is double and triple charging for things and have tanked her credit score because stuff that was covered by insurance they are claiming she should have paid (even though they already got paid for it in full by insurance and insurance letters to her show her owed balance as 0).
My late elderly friend had skin cancer and went under anesthesia to have it removed. The quack cardiologist cleared him ahead of time but didn't actually check anything. He never woke up. He didn't die right away, they sent him home in a hospital bed and he had home healthcare check in but he died within a few days. Another doctor looked at the cardiology tests and realized it showed about 20 blood clots and that he never should have been cleared for the procedure. Widow should have sued but was too upset. The man could have made it to 90 if he hadn't gone in for the procedure-- he was 89 at the time.

So sorry you're dealing with cancer Blueskyhigh. I hope they are able to treat it easily. I do enjoy the Dr. Pimplepopper show. I like Dr. Lee. I believe her father is from Singapore.

Ludington, so sorry about your dad. Even at 94 it still feels too soon.

The weather decided it didn't want to be cold yet and its been upper 80s. AC decided it doesn't want to be cold either and won't cool. Still haven't found the coolant leak but I suspect they didn't put it back together right outside at the unit or something but I don't know. I got some blue stuff to spray on the line to check for bubbles but I don't know if it will work if its out of coolant.

I'm procrastinating on painting the front door and installing the new locksets.

On the bright side, I got some special strike plates off Amazon to fix when doors just won't catch. Brother's door hasn't shut properly for years. He tried other strike plates and knobs. Still wouldn't stay shut. He had to prop a ladder against it to make it stay shut. I got these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077W4ZCM5
My brother rolled his eyes and lectured me on how I was stupid to think they would work. I got up and found the packaging for one of them on the floor in front of his room and saw his door was shut fully. So he decided to try it and it worked. Douchewaffle just dropped the packaging on the floor instead of throwing it in the trash. At least now I know it works.

I'm procrastinating on going out and painting the door because I need to find my painter's tape and a stirring stick and need it to be a little cooler outside before I go to paint.

Took Rupert for a brief walk yesterday. He's been having the zoomies and running around the house, but he's still uncoordinated. And apparently my hand tastes good to him.

Ludington's message about his dad caused me to dwell on my own mortality. To that end, a while ago, I contacted the mortician and funeral planner in my home town where all my ancestors are buried for some thoughts. I've decided to be cremated and put into the same place where my dad and mom rest. My info will simply be carved on the opposite side of their headstone so no need to waste more space or purchase another headstone either. Morbid thoughts, maybe, but we all will be faced with making those decisions in the future.

I hope Ludington's family is doing okay. Even at 94, someone passing so suddenly can be quite a shock.

There was an episode of the show Monk where a murder victim was about 100yrs old. The victim's son, who was in his 80s, said something along the lines of "I know he was an old man but he was still my daddy and I wasn't ready to lose him". Paraphrased.

Sending virtual hugs to Ludington.

I can't remember if it was on my dad's paternal side or maternal side, but some of the relatives decided to be cheap and had the names of previous family members chiseled off the gravestones and had either their own names or the names of other relatives put on in place of them. I didn't know it was legal to remove the names like that. I also remember some elderly friends talking about how when they were younger it was customary to give graveyard plots as wedding gifts. One of them had about 3 plots given to them as gifts.

AC is still not working. I left it off for awhile and the outside unit takes almost 10minutes to turn back on when I tell it to switch to auto or cool mode. Didn't try heat mode. Been sweating like crazy.

Took out trash, washed some dishes, cleaned the hallway, cleaned litterboxes, etc. I'm out of litter so I'll have to get more. I'd wanted to paint the door today but it was too hot. I had to take a break and then cooked some tortellini for mom. Changed her canula today and trimmed her toenails. Her left foot was worse than the right foot. The nail on the big toe was growing all crazy and was catching on the blankets and her socks so I trimmed it down as best as I could and filed it smooth so it wouldn't snag on stuff. The two middle toes had the nails wrapped around the toes almost to the back of the toes and they were starting to embed in the skin.I had to pry them out of the skin and snip them so they weren't wrapped around. I've never really used nail clippers much. I bite my fingernails and I pick at/peel my toenails.

I'm going to try to shampoo the carpet in the hallway and get some more cleaning done tomorrow.

Thank you Zane, but wow on those toenails. I would have thought she would have hollered long ago about them... I know I would. She must not walk, and in a wheelchair .. but ouchie. .

Even though the townhouse is on a whole home generator, it does take some time for it to start up and assume the load. To that end I have several Schneider Electric APC UPS systems scattered throughout the townhouse including an SMT1000, and SMX1000, and SMX1500 and a BFFer or an SMX3000. I dread owning them about every three and a half to four years because now they are all failing on self-test and I have to rebuild and replace all the battery packs. Not only is it a PITA but it's expensive too. Three down and one to go as soon as Batterysharks, the best in the business IMHO, gets the last of them shipped to me.

Yes, ups are great to have, I've git a couple that drive my electronics, but your right, when the batteries go, got to replace them. Great lighting protectors though...

We've lived here for 10 years, and have had exactly one kid come to the door for Halloween. It was my new neighbor, who gave us a bottle of wine, and brought over his disabled daughter. We now shut off the lights outside, shut the blinds, and won't answer the door these days. It doesn't matter since all the residents are "older" and the 24 houses in my tract are off the beaten path, with no real reason to enter unless you are headed to one of the 24 houses.

We survived another Halloween and were visited by only nine "children of the night". Now what to do with that COSTCO-sized bag of leftover candy?

On another note, where is @Twowaxhack? I haven't seen him in a while. I hope all is well with him!
I have been thinking the same thing for a few weeks. Maybe he us working 12/7 to pay for a vacation.

Mom's toenails weren't hurting her, but her sense of feeling in her feet is weird due to diabetic polyneuropathy. She has hammer toes because she didn't go to a doctor when her toes started curling up from high arches. It runs in the family. Her oldest sister got hammertoes as well and went through surgery to straighten them but then stubbed one of the toes and broke it so it was stuck sticking straight up. Doctors had to amputate it. Mom is not a candidate for foot surgery due to the diabetes issues. My brother started to develop it but got to a podiatrist in time and now wears orthopedic shoes. I have high arches as well but I regularly stretch my toes and do toe exercises. Mom does walk around but not much. Her back usually hurts her when she walks and she refuses to go to physical therapy.

I have two black cats. But I live out in the middle of nowhere and it rained all day on Halloween. No Trick-or-Treating in town either because the mayor banned it. Back when I was a teenager the mayor allowed it, but the city ordinances limited it to kids 13 and under. I remember one of my classmates saying that she was 14 and had been taking her younger siblings trick-or-treating but she wore a costume too and the cops who knew her and her family arrested her and kept her in jail overnight. She didn't say what happened with her younger siblings.

The weather here decided it isn't ready for autumn and its been in the upper 80s. Past couple days its been raining AND in the 80s. Since the AC isn't working it's been even hotter inside the house. Even Mom is using fans and she normally complains about it being too cold. I've been sweating a ton. My cats have been sleeping on surfaces that aren't as warm.

It's interfered with my plans to paint the doors-- too much humidity-- and install new locksets. The back door popped open twice yesterday and rain blew into the house and onto the floor. I was going to install the new strikeplate but the wind kept blowing the rain in every time the door was open. My friends and I have been commiserating about how much the weather sucks. Best friend has been sick the past week. First kidney stones and then some kind of stomach bug.
