I installed an outlet for my next-door neighbor. He’s getting an electric car that has a built-in charger so he only needed the outlet. Because the car will be plugged in and out repeatedly, I opted for an industrial grade outlet which cost about $75 and is made in the USA, as opposed to the nine dollar version they sell at Home Depot, all wired with #6 THHN, and per the cars requirements is fed with a 50 amp breaker. All the wiring is in 1 inch PVC conduit.
Hope the plug is on that side...
Car must come with the plug-in extension cord.
You will have to check with him and see what it costs him to charge it up.
I personally like my hybrid, no plug in required, still get about 42 mpg. (Toyota highlander)

I took my hybrid Lexus to Newport Beach to have brunch. I got 37 MPG. We were happy to know that Trump had just been there and a 5 mile long Trump boat show occurred. I never saw so much money floating on the water!20240609_140012.jpg20240609_135909.jpg20240609_135631.jpg20240609_134933.jpg20240609_134738.jpg20240609_134230.jpg20240609_123150.jpg20240609_120607.jpg20240609_120334.jpg

The car--a Polestar2--comes with its own cord, so it must have a built in charger. It's replacing a Volvo XC90 and now (recent job transfer) commuting 50 miles a day, and the guy's in finance so he's "done the math". I have not seen the end of the cord on the car but suggested I may need to reverse the outlet (turn it upside down) and or modify the cover depending on what the end of the cord looks like. We'll see.

I think the cord in/on the car must be something like that on a charger: about 20-25 feet. Installing it on anything other than the same wall as the service panel would have been more costly and troublesome. As it stood, what you see there was over $300 in parts alone.

We actually have good rates here as we are on a co-op electrical system: basically a non-profit!

I dont knowbif trump can reverse what. "The other guy" has done. But I hope so. All of the electric reforms and immigration stuff is insane.
I did read trump tried to make a deal with big oil for a contribution, saying he would do away with all of the electric stuff on his first day back, and open up drilling again.

Water stopped working again. Stupid liquid level thing jammed again and didn't fill the cistern. Hope the new pump didn't burn out and that it was just the switch. Flipped the breaker off for just that pump for now and friend will come out tomorrow to help.

Zanne this madness has got to stop! I feel for you girlfriend! Is your friend a pro and, if not, maybe it's time...........

I don't know if that is a deal?? Definitely it is on Trump's immediate agenda!

The pros won't even answer the phone, much less come out here.
Although, friend's wife is sick today and had to got to the doctor and he doesn't want to leave her by herself. She had two doses of the medicine to induce labor and finally seems to have all the placenta out but she's still bleeding and her hormones are still out of whack. Her body thinks she's still pregnant. And his ex having another baby that she didn't want is messing with her mentally. It upsets her that the ex, who is a terrible mother, can just pop out kids while the wife keeps miscarrying when she actually wanted a baby.

I'm gonna have to go out and see if I can take a look at the switch on the jet pump to see if it has burned up. I'm kind of hoping that turning the breaker off and then back on again (if the cistern is full) will help things. But I don't know.

So, I think its the switch. Something is missing/popped off on the right side of the switch (pic on the left) compared to the new unused switch on the right.

It looks like one of the “pucks”, contact points, on that contactor (switch) is buggered but I can’t be sure,

Correct. Something either came loose or popped off. It's possible it was defective or its possible that the cistern being low caused it to blow. I could not for the life of me get the little nut on the side to remove the switch from the pump to come off. The shape of the switch box blocked me from getting a good angle with a wrench or pliers. Tried prying with a flathead screwdriver (and yes, I was trying to turn it the correct direction). Even tried hitting the screwdriver with the wrench but it kept slipping off the nub on the nut and I nearly hit the wires. So, friend agreed to come out and got it done for me. But now the switch is doing this.

At least the water was working last I checked. Haven't tried to use it after flushing the toilets though. Ugh. What could be causing this?

My friend did use pipe dope (bc that's what was recommended by the people replacing switches on Youtube) on the hose that connects to the pressure switch. Could it be clogging it and causing the problem?

I wonder if the first switch was defective or if something caused that contact to blow off. With my luck its entirely possible to have two defective switches in a row.

Anyway, I dropped my friend off at home and went to the store while he took a shower. I got some dark chocolate for his wife, some crunch candy bars for his daughter (she loves them and was ecstatic about it), and got some other food for them to cook. They all like the twice baked potatoes and he likes the philli cheesesteak sandwiches. Grabbed some fresh fruit and some soup for Mom and am now kvetching on the internet about plumbing issues.
