I've got a light switch from the 80s that burned out/melted and the switch won't work. I ordered a 10 pack of Leviton Decora Edge rocker switches. Also ordered the outlets. It fits in the same style of plate as the rocker switches. One of the features is that instead of having to hook the wire around a screw, you have a straight wire that goes in and a lever that snaps it in place (like a Wago lever nut). It is stronger than the traditional back-stab fitting.

One of these days when my friend is available we are going to trace back the switches and outlets to the breakers and make a diagram of what goes to which breaker.

Yesterday I taped off the shower are and put up plastic. Last night I did some primer paint. This morning I did touch-up. In awhile I'll go down to the workshop to get the satin paint and will paint. Primer dries in 1 hr and its been over 3hrs.

At this point I don't care if it is sloppy so long as everything is sealed up and protected from water. I'll try to remember to take pictures once it is done.

I recommend wrapping the wire and securely tightening the screws if at all possible. The contact area on those push-to-connect thingamajigs can and do develop resistance over time. I’ll have to check out that new type of connection for sure.

There are no screws. It's levers like the Wago lever nuts. You open the lever, slide the wire all the way in, close the lever and it holds tight.

Its also designed to make the outlets space perfectly to fit in a multiple gang box-- and some extra plastic on top and bottom in case you have too big of a hole in the drywall- easily removed if you don't.

I painted on the satin paint and pulled the tape while it was damp (thanks to Havasu for that suggestion). I'll post pics of it with plastic and tape up and then I'll go take pics of how it looks now.

Same here, the concept intrigues me...
However I digress, I am old school when it comes to wiring devices and still use good 'ol fashioned screw terminals...

Someone did a video showing how long it took to use screw terminals vs using the levers and I think he was able to install the latter in about 15 seconds.

The paint is dry to the touch right now. Giving another 24hrs for everything to cure (caulk had 48hr cure time).
Curtain rod is at max extension so it has to rest on top of the trim.
I'm taking a break and then I need to clean up.

Are those canec based acoustical tiles on the ceiling?
Amazed they've held up well in such a damp environment.
I have no idea. I just know they are ugly and remind me of pegboard. They've been there since at least the 70s. Possibly longer.

I cleaned out the bathtub put an antislip mat in, put some hooks up, and put a bath mat outside the tub. Need to clean the rest of the bathroom, but I want to have it functional enough for me to take a shower first. Gonna wait about 24 hours for things to cure.

Same with my home, the semi-enclosed main entrance had this ugly pegboard masonite ceiling installed since day one back in '59.
I tore it down last year and replaced it with these mahogany slats, yes it was labor intensive, but well worth it.

That is a major improvement! I like the new light fixture too.

Just woke up from a nap and am still tired. My sinuses don't like me.

I need to put together a samsclub curbside order for tomorrow because Mom wants to go with me but wanted me to do curbside for the heavy stuff.

Yes! Tomorrow I should be able to take a shower in it. Hoping nothing goes wrong. That would be my luck though. Stuff is all cleared out of the tub and the tub has been vacuumed and scrubbed. Need to go get my body wash and shampoo from my friend's house, get some fresh towels in there, put up the towel rack (although, I can still use towels without the towel rack) and put up the TP holder. I'm trying to figure out where my small level went to make sure I put stuff up level.

Waiting for Mom to wake up so we can go do Samsclub curbside pickup. They don't get stuff ready in time and I have 24hrs to pick stuff up. After I waited almost an hour for my pickup order before, I'm not going to bother to be on time again.

You mentioned that you have the spring rods fully extended and still don't cinch on the walls properly. The right way is to get a "one size" bigger spring rod, or add a double back foam tape on both ends of the rod, which will keep the rods from moving on you.

Havasu, the rear spring rod extends all the way, the front one does not, but it hasn't moved since I put a block under one side to get it sitting evenly. It does touch both walls but not tightly. If it becomes a problem I'll try the sticky tape thing.

I've got some laundry in the dryer-- I found my brother's stuff in the dryer and had to go dump it on his bed. I was nice enough not to drop it on the floor. Cleaned the lint filter. He left one of his shirts in the washing machine. I left it in and put my stuff in. If my red blanket messes his yellow shirt up, oh well. I don't care. He should have taken it out. I used color guard detergent. Waiting on the dryer to finish now. Also waiting for Mom to wake up so we can go to Samsclub.

I have my curbside order set to 11 to 12 but they never have stuff ready in the correct timeframe and have a 24 hr grace period so I'll go whenever I feel like it after noon.

LOL. I actually plan to get a shattaf (handheld sprayer) to mount on the wall next to the toilet.

Speaking of toilets, I need to put the bolts with the "bungs" on the toilet seat in Mom's bathroom. Need to figure out where I put them first though. Nuts on the bolts of her seat keep coming loose.

Speaking of toilets, has anybody gone the cheap route for obtaining an “elongated” toilet by slapping an elongated seat on a round bowl? Other than the obvious problems that a male could possibly run into, what other concerns would there be?

Can you install a VW windshield in a Cadillac? Yep, it is possible, but functional....I guess. Personally, I'd rather dumpster dive and find a toilet seat that fits my toilet, rather than "modify" its need.

Elongated seats on round toilets don't really give any more space and it just ends up with a mess and urine on the front rim. Depending on how sturdy (or not) the seat is, it may break if too much pressure is put on the front. Better to just suck it up and get an elongated toilet if you want one.

I setup curbside order for samsclub to be between 11am to 12pm. Checked status starting at 11. Still said pending. Noon rolled around. Still pending. 1pm. Still pending. 1:10pm- finally ready. Then I had to wait for Mom to get off the toilet. Got up there and a girl brought out the curbside order but it turns out someone had stolen my toilet paper off the cart while it was in the pickup area so she had to go back into the store and go all the way to the back to grab another one.

We ate at Flying Wok. Used to be called Panda but ever since Panda Express opened up people have been confusing the two. There were a lot of negative reviews of Panda Express on Panda's yelp page. I spoke to the owner and asked if the reason for the name change was because of Panda Express and he said "Yes". Panda Express sucks.

Stopped at Walmart to meet up with my friend and get some roach spray for him. A roach crawled into his daughter's ear the night before & he's determined to eliminate them. They keep the place clean but its an older house and there are other people in the neighborhood who don't clean and who get roaches. Also put gas in his car. He gave Mom a hug and we headed to his house to grab my shampoo & body wash and then went home.

I still need to unload more stuff from the car.

Dissected two rotisserie chickens from Samsclub that will make some sammiches for the next few days. I'm about to rack out for the night.

Roger that on the seats. My question was but the stream of consciousness coming from an idle mind.

We here love the $4.99 loss-leading chickens that we get at COSTCO and, if you've tried COSTCO's, wonder how the ones from Sam's compares?

Oh, I get the stream of consciousness. My brain leaps from one thought to another in a manner that utterly confuses some people.
We don't have a Costco in our area so I've never had their chicken. They didn't even have one in the entire state until a few years ago but they put it in a city about 4hrs away.

I'd left my shampoo, body wash, and back scrubber in the truck yesterday and got it out this morning. Mounted the TP holder. My the fleas of a thousand camels infest the armpits of whoever decided to utilize flathead set screws.

The philips screw for the mounting bracket started stripping and got stuck so I took the driver out of the drill, put the "mouth" of the drill over the head of the screw, tightened it, and pulled it out. I was doing a test to see if it would go in before I put the bracket on. I put the bracket on and drove the screw in as far as I could with that method and then switched to a manual ratcheting screwdriver. That worked out well. It's probably slightly crooked because things slipped when I was trying to align and make marks, but I'm fine with how it turned out.

Next step is to mount the towel bar.
