Trap Primer Reversing?

Hello! The plastic hose coming off our basement laundry tap broke off. My research leads me to believe this is a trap primer. The thing is, the broken hose leaks water in the wrong direction even while no longer attached to the tap. Could it be something else? The drip is not constant or consistent. I wondered if maybe our AC is tied in? (But even so why would it flow TO the tap?) Your advice is appreciated.

What are you referring to when you say, "basement laundry tap"?
Doesn't sound like a trap primer, particularly if it's connected to the drain line.
