I'm having a tree roots problem. The washing machine drained and water gushed out of the overflow in the basement. I used the wet-vac and dumped the water from the floor into the sump pump pit. Of course, the water gushed out of the overflow onto the floor again. Thankfully it's not a carpet floor, just concrete. I had the septic tank man over and he found roots in the inlet. He ground some out, put in a new clean-out and will pump the tank on Monday. This happened a few years ago, so I expect it could happen again with our big trees.

You need a professional drain cleaner with a camera and VERY experienced in root removal, it can take a couple of hours, easily
To clean a main, then you would have to camera again to make sure they get as much as possible, there maybe straggler roots left then it's your responsibility to use the best root killer as directed and camera
One or 2 Times a year, they can come back
But if you are vigilant you can stay on top of them, MAKE SURE THEY HAVE EXPERIENCE IN ROOT REMOVAL+ CAMERA

We have a local company that does that and uses a camera. I also had the septic tank pumped yesterday and he put a clean out in for easier access. He poured in some root killer when he was done. He said some of the roots fell down into the bottom of the tank and that they would rot away. Thanks
