After running the water for a while, such as a shower, or watering the lawn, the pressure will suddenly drop to zero, there will be no flow for a minute, then flow will resume. I watched the gauge on the pressure tank slowly go down to 30, where instead of the pump coming on, the ngauge drops quickly to zero, remains there for a minute, then pump turns on, goes immediately to 40, slowly down to 30, then zero for a minute, then pops back to 40. It cycles in this way. Bad pressure switch? dieing pump? clogged line? ( that one doesn't sound likely, but was suggested to me by an old ex-plumber). Everything but the pump is almost new after a gut renovation.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Lee
