Strange Hole In Bathroom Floor

Does anyone know what the gray circular plate I assume covering a hole is in my bathroom? Home is in Massachusetts and was built in the early 1900s. Was renovated into apartments in the 1960s. It is right in front of a clawfoot tub with hot and cold lines coming up to the floor as well as a drain. Assume it might be some sort of clean out or shut off? Thanks!

Take off the cover and look inside. I'm curious now too.

Might be a patch in the floor from a drum trap being removed.

Or it could be an ashtray for when you’re smoking while taking a bath.

Thanks! It’s a bit odd as the vanity was placed on top of it so hard to even get the screws out. I have a plumber coming to look at the shut offs so will post an update once we find out. I hope it’s an ashtray. It will make my lift a lot easier.
