Hello everyone.

I'm in the process of replacing a basket in my kitchen sink, and need to adjust the position of the tailpiece to accommodate the height of the new basket.

The problem I'm having is that the tailpiece seems to be quite well stuck in the piping, such that I can't get any movement out of it at all. What steps should I take to try to loosen the tailpiece?

Thanks.

Edit: For clarity, the slip nut spins off fine.

I assume it is a brass tailpiece. Use WD-40 and a strap wrench. If that doesn't work, use a pipe wrench and get a new tailpiece if you damage it too much.
