Hello,
A friend of mine has a pretty bad issue with sewer gas that seems to be coming from one of his sump pits. He lives on land that has a very high water table and I believe perhaps a small spring, so the pit is constantly filling with a trickle of water. There is a full bathroom about 10 feet or so from the pit and if it's not in use, the odor is not too bad. However, when he has guests over and they use the shower and toilet, the smell becomes really bad. If I had to guess, there is some break in the line that is somehow letting sewage enter the sump system, but I don't know if there are other possibilities. I plan on recommending he get the line scoped, but it would be nice to have an idea of what the issue might be. Unfortunately I have no photos to share since because everything looks normal from the outside. Thanks for the help!
