I almost stepped in this in the parking lot of the eye doctor clinic.

I showed the picture (on my phone) to the clerk inside and said it was a lawsuit waiting to happen. They have a lot of senior patients and I would not want one of them to get hurt. She said she would have someone go take a look at it (they were understaffed at the time).

Just by looking at that pic my ankle hurts.

Tell them I’ll be calling my attorney because that hurts me emotionally 🤣

PTSD is a mofo 🤫🫶

LOL. Oh, I hear you on the ankle injuries. I dislocated my left one (and possibly broke it but my insurance sucked so I didn't go to the doctor). Stepped in an armadillo hole and sprained my right one. Then a couple years ago I fell down some stairs and sprained both ankles (tore some ligaments). To this day my left one still gives me trouble.

Twisted the crap out of the ligaments in my left knee going over a wall while in boot camp and sucked it up for the remainder of my six years in the Navy. The joint was loose and wobbly after that and the knee cap would quite often rotate counterclockwise to the side of my knee joint and would have to be manually put back into position. Later on, I had childish visions of become and Olympic level figure skater and blew the whole knee out when attempting an axel spin. I failed to jump off the ice, my upper body rotated but the skate and lower leg remained fixed and tore the whole thing apart. I finally got some surgery where the meniscus was removed and the "sturgeon" bore a myriad of tiny hole in the bone hoping to induce the cartilage to regrow but it didn't. I'd love to get the knee replaced but and to scared to consider it. Has anyone had knee replacement surgery and how did it work out for you?

Enjoy the rest of your weekend folks!

This past winter , I had both knees totally replaced. Right on Dec 16 then the left on March 17 . Previous to the surgery, I would be in constant pain which would increase as the day went on , to the point at about 3-4 o’clock in the afternoon, I couldn’t stand the pain and have to sit down. 800 mg ibuprofen was the normal thing 2-3 times a day. I’m 64 and decided to dedicate the winter to getting my knees done , only doing one knee would have handicapped me until the other was done. I walked into the surgery center about 7am and walked out at noon with my new knee. The pain is extreme but manageable for the first week but greatly improves with mobility after that . Physical therapy is the key to a successful recovery. My physical therapist was phenomenal, he says you get out what you put in . 6 weeks of pt and I was about 80% , at times after PT , I questioned whether it was worth the aggravated pain of PT but pushed through and glad I did. Fast forward to today , 8 months after the first surgery, I have a little pain when standing after sitting but my dr assured me, it will get better in a few months. My advice, don’t hesitate, get it done , push yourself at PT and you will thank your self.

Feel free to ask any questions, I didn’t want you to think it was a cake walk but there is pain involved, on my part maybe more than the norm, but I pushed myself to the point that I cut PT time in half. Only because I wanted to be ready to go for spring . I’m building a log home as a retirement project so I didn’t want any excuses.

Mark, did you have a Nano, a partial or full knee replacement? I had full knee replacements in 2012 and 2013, and the pain is the same as it was before. The bigger issue is with a full knee replacement, you will never be able to get down on your knees anymore, since the titanium will bust your natural patella. This means no more kneeling shooting, kneeling on floor repair, kneeling for constructions, etc. It is time for replacement knees now, but no more for me.

Quick story.

I had a customer who needed knee replacements. He played high school and college football, had injuries.

He was scared of surgery. Scared he wouldn’t wake up.

He was rich, multi millionaire.

So he had people do everything for him because it got to where he couldn’t walk.

Had an elevator installed.

He died about 3 yrs after he quit walking. Lack of mobility caused other problems….

Good to know!

One of the reasons that this surgery is intimidating for me is that I watched an episode of "The Operation" that used to run at midnight, for obvious reasons, that was all about a knee replacement. I have to stop watching that stuff!

There is a new treatment where they inject stem cells or something into the knees to try to regrow stuff. I forget the term for it, but one of my friends had it done and said it worked great. Not sure if insurance covers it though.

I've heard both good and bad stories about knee surgeries. I know some people where it went well and helped and I know of at least one where the surgeon totally botched it. Make sure you research the surgeon and find someone good. No VA doctors. My aunt went to a VA surgeon for her knee replacement. He somehow slipped, damaged a nerve, and chipped the bone. When she came out of the surgery she was in agony & the leg that was operated on was shorter than the other leg. She refused to get the other knee done after that & she's now in a wheelchair. I think if she'd had a competent surgeon the procedure would have gone better. The doctors blamed her lack of recovery on refusal to do the rehab exercises-- but she was in too much pain & they didn't give her enough pain meds for it. Plus, it was hard with her leg shorter by over an inch. She didn't trust them to try to fix it and I don't blame her.

My nice neighbor used to be a carpet/flooring installer so he had both knees replaced and is doing well. He drives the school bus now. The last plumber who came out here (who is a jerk) had knee surgery but I'm not sure what kind. He seems to walk just fine. And medical in my area blows.

To keep on topic, I loaded my files from my laptop onto my desktop and did some tweaking on my guest bathroom sketch for sketchup. Still missing some stuff-- like corner shelves near the lavatory & some sort of space saver over the toilet, some wall mount soap dispensers & toothbrush holders, etc.

I'm debating whether to eliminate the rocker switch next to the vanity and just use the same switch as the overhead light to simplify things. I feel like the wall to the right is missing something. For some reason it won't let me color the wall on the left. It stays white for some reason. I'm thinking of doing two or 3 of the walls in waterproof cementboard and then painting them.

2 full or total knee replacements , kneeing is something that is difficult but over time it is getting better . Gel knee pads help while I’m doing tile or flooring. I have a little pain but overall, I would be in a wheelchair by now , probably 50 lbs overweight and lazy . Well worth it though.

As an aside, my mother was having a lot of knee pain and she started taking Condroiten with MSM and Glucosomine. Her knees stopped hurting as much.

Got the bolts lined up for a test-fit of the toilet before putting the waxless seal on.

Pex got cut right under the blue tape I put on to mark where I wanted it cut. Friend said that was about where he planned to cut anyway.

I was watching a youtube video about how to clean sinks and when this guy got down to take the drain off I saw this and had to screenshot it:

I watched the video and told him that he was missing his plumbing vent and at the very least he could bring it up 4" minimum and put an AAV on it. Looks like there was an old drain connection in the wall but it was re-routed for some reason.
