We are closing on a second home for a daughter. The kitchen was not configured for a built-in dishwasher, so we're thinking about adding a second faucet to the left of the main faucet. From the fuzzy picture, it looks like a spray nozzle is part of the faucet system and there is an air gap to the left. Is it possible to add a single valve faucet with a shut off valve in the hole where the spray nozzle is mounted. The 2nd faucet would have an adapter to allow the portable dishwasher to easily attach its hose.

In a few days I'll be taking some measurements to consider other options (like hollowing out cabinet space). Is the idea for the second faucet a little too extreme, or not easy to get permitted even if done by a pro plumber in a blue state? If the second faucet does not have the correct overhang, it might look like a hobby project. TIA for any opinions.

You can convert a portable to a built in most of the time and run the drain and water like a typical dishwasher.

Or you can install a faucet in the single hole in the sink.

You could make a 24” space and install a normal dishwasher.

Your choice

Looks to me like the cabinet to the left of the range, and the right of the sink, is 24". That could be removed and a built in dishwasher installed. You give up the drawer and the cabinets below...but the cabinet itself may be able to be removed or if need be, "demolished in place" to create the space.
