Went to replace the bathroom faucet expecting it to be secured underneath by nuts, but then I saw this, and I don't have the right tool for it. Never seen one before. Can't figure out what it is.

Any help would be appreciated.

I believe that’ll take a 1/4” socket but might be another size.

Either way a socket will loosen it, find the correct size.

Yeah a nut driver will work too.

Anything will work that will loosen that long “ nut “

In my experience a 7/16 nut driver does the trick. Looks like there may be screwdriver slots too.

Can the OP measure the outside width of the hollow nut, or the inside width? It almost looks like the intended tool for loosening the nut is a large allen key. Back when imported hex sockets were flooding the country, the junk tools had a sloppy fit that either would not fit over the nut, or too big, and would not be able to grip it before it slipped.
