Hi everyone,

I live in Charleston, SC and being in the lowcountry our house is elevated. I want to put a 1/2 bath in our drive under which is directly off of our pool. By code I can't break up the concrete and put a regular toilet because of my flood zone. I want to install a Saniflo Upflushing toilet to tie into the soil stack directly behind the new bathroom. Here is the space and layout:

I have a couple of questions on how to accomplish that:

1. Can I put a wye fitting directly above that clean out and tie in the pump drainage?
2. The Saniflo system needs to be vented, this is my biggest question. Where can I vent the Saniflo pump? Can I vent into that soil stack? My thought was run 1.5" PVC up near the ceiling and put another wye fitting there to tie in the vent. I honestly don't know much about plumbing vents but from my research that might be a wet vent?

Anything else I should know/consider? Thanks for your help!

Installed one for my son a few years ago and we tied the drain in with a wye as high as possible.to the main stack. You can't
put the vent into that stack. Is there anyway you can take it up through a closet and into the attic and then tie into the vent
before it goes out through the roof. Also on your drain its a good idea to put a ball valve in above the pump box in case you
want to work on it for some reason. What size pipe are you running for the drain?

There wouldn't be an easy way to tie in to that, I have 3 stories above this bathroom I would have to go through. There is a bathroom about 30 feet away, I assume I would have to try to tie into a vent leaving there?

I’d vent it out the side wall low to the ground.

I’ve done two like that and it hasn’t stunk anyone out yet. I still service the houses, no complaints at all snd they were warned it could happen.

And no, it doesn’t meet codes.

Why can't I tie into that soil stack? From what I see in this graphic, there is a vent coming off of this soil stack.

Yeah, it’s above all the other drains. You can’t get above the other drains because you have several floors above you with no access to run the pipe high enough before you connect.

Ugh, that makes sense, thanks! Have to figure out some way to vent this system.
