We had a cleaner in our home and they cleaned out the exposed plumbers putty that was showing by the shower pan drain flange. It wasn't a large amount of plumber's putty. I haven't seen any signs of a leak but we've also stopped using the shower.

I've searched a lot to find any information about how this drain assembly is installed. I believe this assembly has a large nut under the pan to tighten everything. I was thinking about filling the gap around the flange and tub with clear silicone caulk as a precaution.

Would it be ok to add the silicone caulk in the gap shown in the pics? I can't find anything where someone has done something similar.

Any help is much appreciated!

You could fill that area with silicone and slick it off. It looks like it would hold water. Nasty……
