After correcting the leak in the plumbing going into Moen shower valve in my bathroom, I now have another issue. The action of the cartridge has changed in that the flow is very, very slow to start when rotating counterclockwise from the full off position. Also a comfortable water temperature used to be achieved when the valve was rotated through about half its range. Now I can't seem to get enough cold water to properly use the control as the water is now too hot even when slightly opened. Maye the repair guys left some crap in the repair that found its way into the cartridge or maybe it's simply coincidental to the repair. The cartridge is about ten years old.
I've decided to replace it and Moen has two version on the 1222 one of which, the HD, model is full brass and is two to three times the cost of the plastic version. Which version would you purchase and why?
