I am planning a small job for our house, and do not want to buy a 25 foot roll of PEX. Sharkbite brand PEX comes in shorter lengths, and is available at Lowes locally. As far as I know, it is made in US. Opinions? Thanks.
Thanks for the reply! From other posts, I have gathered that I wanted pipe made in the US, for your reason. I have all my parts, and just have to start this project. I went with Boshart stainless steel elbows and a tee. I also ordered some decent PB to PEX adapters. I plan to use my newly acquired Ridgid ring crimper on those adapters, and the Oetiker tool on the Oetiker clamps in the rest of the project. I will have some extra PEX for an emergency. I appreciate your input.SharkBite PEX B is a convenient option for small projects, especially if you only need a short length instead of a full roll. It meets industry standards and is widely used in residential plumbing. While it’s more rigid than other types of PEX, it’s still easy to work with as long as the connections are properly installed. SharkBite’s PEX is made in the U.S., which is a plus in terms of quality control. If you’re using their push fittings, just make sure the pipe is cut cleanly and fully inserted to avoid leaks. It’s a solid choice for quick repairs and smaller jobs.
Great! Sounds like I'm going to create a disaster.I would use Rehau pex and not use the stainless steel cinch clamps.
I’d use copper crimp rings.
I’d never choose sharkbite pex for an entire project, only rental dump repairs.
I’ve been crimping pex since the early 90’s. 20 years ago I started using Rehau pex and haven’t looked back.Great! Sounds like I'm going to create a disaster.
Then I’d use whatever pex I could find. No big deal. No way I’d pipe my whole house with sharkbite pexI need this to last until we replace all the Poly B, which has lasted 30 years, with one pinhole leak early this year. I like to be able to buy a five foot length, not a 25 foot roll. I looked at the Boshart fittings, they seem like good quality.
