As the title says I was cleaning up the tub with some 2.4% Clorox Brand bathroom cleaner, when I noticed bubbles coming out of the overflow in the wrong direction, and it was then that I found out my mother had poured some Method Brand Hand Soap down the drain, and apparently there was some residue left in the drain.
Question - Did I do any damage to the pipes? Water was running (obviously when washing the bleach down the drain) at a slow pace the entire time, so both sets of chemicals would have been somewhat diluted, but apparently not enough as there was obviously a reaction that created foam backing up through the overflow back into the tub.
As before, the bleach cleaner was 2.4%, while the Method hand Soap ingredients are as follows (sorry no percentages):
water (eau), sodium lauryl sulfate, cocamidopropyl betaine, citric acid, glycerin, sodium chloride, sodium citrate, aloe barbadensis extract, tocopheryl acetate, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, fragrance (parfum), blue 1 (ci 42090), external violet 2 (ci 60730).
Thanks. Things are bad enough around without having to worry about damage to the plumbing lines coming out of the tub. Next time I'll be sure to run the water in the tub for a good while before doing that again.
