I have a a house built in the 80's I'm replacing a bunch of fixtures and stuff and part of that is the shower handles (typical three handle set up). The handles are attached to moen 1224 cartridges.
From my research there is nothing made anywhere that will adapt those to a smaller start pattern handle.
My questions are:
Is there anything I can do to replace these damn things? Some other cartridge out there that would replace them?
What are my options here?

Ive been trying to get find something for a couple weeks and I'm about to just start taking showers outside.

I think he may be asking about shaft adapters with a smaller spline area diameter. ("start" = "star" in lieu of spline perhaps?)
