Hello,
Just moved into a new house to find all the drain pipes were COVERED in plumbers putty which were cracking and causing leaks (copper). We have redone all the drain pipes in the house. However, the main pipe they all connect to which goes into the ground is also covered in putty and we’re having a plumber come give us a quote to replace the fitting that connects the pipe in the house to the pipe in the ground as that is beyond our abilities to fix.
My question is - if the copper drain pipes were in this horrible of a condition, is that any indication that the pipes under ground leading to the sewer are also in this bad of shape? Very worried of a problem that will cost me a ton of money to fix.
