Looking to move this drain to the 31" mark but it goes through a joist. Can I extend the pipe slightly and add a new p trap or will that impede water flow?20220602_171258.jpg20220602_171302.jpg

I would cut the fitting of the existing P-trap off at the fitting and install a 45 right where the piope comes through the joist. Then add pipe and a new P-trap such that you get the drain to your desired location.

While you’re at the store getting fittings pick up a 60 degree ell.

You might want to get a 45, St. 45 and a St. 22.5 degree fittings.
Use what works best.
A torpedo level will help you get everything positioned correctly.

It’ll be cheaper than the gas it takes to get to the store and back
