I am installing a recirculation pump in a closed loop back to the cold water inlet of the water heater. To bleed the line from all air, could I use a ball valve with built-in drain like the one shown below?
I understand the flow through the drain hole on a model like this will be more restricted than if I would use a hose bib type. But I figured I would ask to see if others have done this.
The diagram below shows where I would place this ball valve (see highlighted ball valve) and it would of course take the place of the hose bib.
