Ball Valve with drain to bleed air from recirculation pump line?

I am installing a recirculation pump in a closed loop back to the cold water inlet of the water heater. To bleed the line from all air, could I use a ball valve with built-in drain like the one shown below?




I understand the flow through the drain hole on a model like this will be more restricted than if I would use a hose bib type. But I figured I would ask to see if others have done this.

The diagram below shows where I would place this ball valve (see highlighted ball valve) and it would of course take the place of the hose bib.

we use isolation valves on both sides of pump and tees with hose bibbs to allow use of short hoses to bleed off. Your idea is reasonable.

Are you getting air in your system, you could take the aerator off of a faucet and bleed that way or bleed thru a coin vent or bottle vent and valve it off when your finished bleeding
