Last year I had most of the plumbing replaced including the incoming lines from the well, new pressure tank and new jet pump. Yesterday the water ran fine - clear, good pressure, no bubbles - until the jet pump started up, then the water sputtered and changed to brown, then back to normal before the pump shut off. Last night and today the water still sputters when the pump comes on (about 5 seconds into the cycle), but it is cleaner.

I have checked all of the lines and there are no visible leaks, no noises coming from anywhere in the system, etc., but there is some sweating on the top of the pump and on the copper pipe that runs out of it (dry once it turns up the wall). The well is artesian, ever-flowing, there is lots of water available. The pump sounds normal when running. Any ideas what the issue might be?

Thank you!

Sounds like your system got a shot of air from somewhere in the suction of the pump. Air will really shake things up knocking mineral off the pipes making the water look dirty. With a flowing well, an air leak in the suction line can be forgiving because the flow from the well can reprime the pump. Don't know where it is, but it's more than likely in the suction line from the pump to the well.
