I found this yellow slime in the bottom of all 4 of my toilet tanks in my house. We recently noticed our fridge water filter was clogging up quicker than normal (1-2 months with the water pressure decreasing significantly, supposed to last 6 months) which prompted us to start looking into things around the house.
I live in a 7 year old home on city water with plenty of chlorine and we have a 7 year old water softener system. no filter system in place aside from the fridge.
2 plumbers have looked at this for us and can't tell us what it is. I also spoke to the water softener company and they do not feel this is any type of breakdown of the resin or anything else related to the softener. It doesn't have any particular odor and it's kind of gooey in texture. none of my neighbors close to me have this in their toilet tanks.
any help would be appreciated.
