I have an AO Smith Pro Line water heater (GCR-40 400 00L010S83) and I'm trying to replace my anode rod. I'm guessing it's integrated into the hot water line, but I tried removing it with a pipe wrench and it wouldn't budge. I'm just looking for someone to tell me I'm on the right track before I put a piece if pipe on my wrench for extra leverage.

See the attached images and these descriptions of each port I'm seeing on the top of the water heater:
- #1 - is the hot water line out of the tank.
- #2 - is the cold water line into the tank.
- #3 - I believe this is the temperature and pressure relief valve.
- #4 - I'm not sure what this is. I pulled the plastic cap off and carved out some insulation, but only found more insulation. I poked in about 2 inches from the surface but only ran into more insulation (i.e. no nut).

Model Number: GCR-40 400 00L010S83
Serial Number: 113545930

Thanks in advance!

1 is the hot water line and likely has an anode attached.
don't be surprised if the anode is not eroded. They can take many years before needing replacement and it is dependent on how much microcracking the tank liner has undergone.
If you don't have adequate room, you will need to bend the rod as it is pulled out fully.
