What is the thread on my outside faucet.

If you could take a good close-up picture of it and post it, along with an accurate diameter we might have some idea. It could be 1/2 or 3/4 npt, or maybe part of the faucet is missing.

That doesn't look like it. But what is a 'vacuum breaker' and where would it be used? Thanks
Its a one way valve to prevent back siphoning through a plumbing system. The type I’m speaking of screws onto a hose Bibb faucet.
 
They come apart in the middle. That’s where the fine threads are.

Yes, I'm well aware of that! If you drill out the broken set screw you can probably get the piece with the fine threads off, and then just screw a hose on, or get a new vacuum breaker.
