I too have run into that situation also from time to time. The best one was a little garden wagon from Northern Tool at the time sold for $149.99 and was rated at 1200lbs. and the shipping weight was 63lbs.

So the first wagon that showed up, the box was beat all to hell and it had missing hardware. So I called and they sent out a second wagon and when I asked about returning the first one, they said just keep it for parts! Oh ok, that sounded good to me. Then after putting the second wagon together, I noticed that the metal sides did not fit together properly. The side panels tilted inward two inches when put together and didn't make a perfect rectangular wagon box. So I called back and explained that situation to the same person I had just chatted with the day before. He said just keep it and I will send you out another one no cost!

So unfortunately the third wagon had the same issue as the second, the side panels also tilted inward. The problem being the two end panels were built too short and when latched to the sides it made them tilt inward.

So after all that and with two free wagons for parts, I just left it at that and decide to live with the sides tilted in. My guess is that it is much easier for them and cheaper to just send out another one VS having to deal with the expense of the return and an unhappy customer in the end! I am sure if it was a high dollar item, that would not happen.
Back when Sears was great, 1950s, my dad had a 48" Craftsman pipe wrench that the hook jaw broke. Yes, a cheater pipe was obviously being used. We had a Sears store in our hometown, so he took the hook jaw to the store, and they had to send off to get a replacement. A complete 48" Craftsman pipe wrench showed up at his shop a few days later. He took the old handle up to the store and told them it was no good to him and thanks for the new pipe wrench. A few days later yet another new 48" pipe wrench showed up at his shop. He then took the second new pipe wrench back to the store and explained what had apparently happened. They told him to keep it as trying to explain what had happened to the corporate folks would be more trouble than what that wrench was worth. I still have one of the pipe wrenches and my son has the other. LOL.

I miss the few Sears stores that we had around here that shut down. I also miss lickin' and stickin' all those S&H Green Stamps that my mom faithfully collected from shopping at our local Piggly Wiggly so many years ago. As I recall, we got some really good stuff redeeming those stamps but, to a kid, anything free was probably some really good stuff. I guess I miss the good ol' days.

Man, those were the good great days!

I've been unlucky that the closest Amazon distribution centers to me are absolute garbage and seem to have either major incompetence or high theft rate. An entire delivery truck went missing from one of them. The Humble TX facility is particularly bad. More than 50% of my packages from there were lost/never arrived and are almost always delayed. Sometimes for over a week.

I found that some items don't have any free shipping options at all unless you use Prime. We order enough that prime is worth it- plus I have some gaming stuff linked to a prime account and I can get some free TV shows-- if I can ever figure out how to use that stuff.

I ordered some sort of threaded fitting that arrived with burrs on the threads and didn't work. I left a review that it arrived quickly but was defective. Seller refunded the full price and told me to keep it. Would probably cost more to return it anyway.

I admit that I shed a tear or two when Sears shut down. It felt like the end of an era. So many places have shut down.

The pump actually did arrive yesterday. My cows were out front and the UPS guy was afraid of them so he backed his vehicle up within 2ft of my truck's tailgate. I going for a walk in the side field and he didn't see me so I think I startled him when I popped out next to the truck to get the package. I told him that the red cow would only chase if he ran from her because she thought running= playing. It dawned on me that she's now over 22yrs old. My cousin's youngest child is 22 and we got the cow before my cousin was pregnant. Her 3rd kid was still a toddler. The younger cow was born in 2008.

Anyway, well service guy couldn't make it until today. Said his dad (who started the business) passed away last year around Thanksgiving. He also told me a LOT of people had their pump casings split open in that freeze and he's been very busy replacing pumps. He told me to keep the old pump for the motor as the motor should still be good and casings can be replaced. He and his helper got everything installed, tested, some stuff came apart so it had to be tightened. I brought out some water jugs to prime the pump and he added a tee with a plug for future priming. Had to use my pipe dope bc it was thicker than his to stop any leaks from the cheap plug. It's stainless steel. Water was working and I went inside to check. Heard water spraying in the laundry room. The fitting right before the shutoff broke. So I had him shut the power to the jet pump for now and I'm going to get a 5 pack of fittings (they don't sell them individually) to try to fix it. I'm very tempted to get the Ryobi electric cinch tool for the pex cinch rings. Just the tool is $125 with military discount but there will be 10.5% sales tax. I don't have a lot of hand strength so I suck at trying to use the manual tool. My arthritis doesn't help either.

Very sad and horrific crash near Reagan National Airport last night. They are reporting upwards of 14 members of the US Figure Skating team, their families, and their coaches were onboard coming back from the National Championships in Wichita. Ilia Malinin, the US men's champ, may have been on board. God bless those whose lives were lost and may he keep their surviving families and friends in His loving care.

I'd heard about the helicopter crashing but didn't realize it collided with a passenger plane. That is awful!

Puts a damper on my news that I replaced a fitting so we could get running water back again. Really wishing I had a PEX manifold for all of the individual runs so things can be shut off independently but we had to replace all the PVC/CPVC lines on short notice.

Invested in a Ryobi pinch/cinch tool that allows me to secure the clamps using the tool with one hand. The manual tool required two hands and I still couldn't exert enough force bc of my arthritis.

I turned the water heater back on and after my nap I will take a shower.
