Had the kids and grandkids over today. Swam all day, then bbq'ed two tri tips, cold macaroni salad, grilled zucchini, and garlic bread. Also made a few margaritas or four.

109 F. in the shade today.
My patio pavers in the sun were up to 141 F.
I had a leftover pizza in the fridge and put it out in the sun and it was just ok. Will cook indoors next time or try "mailbox" lasagna for a whole day exposure.

My sister in Van Nuys A/C went out early in the day.
I told her to get out an ohmmeter and check .....she just glazed over and said she would call around for someone. Pathetic.
She called later to say it was really bad . They don't even have fans.

It's not that hot here but its muggy. Actually looks nice out right now. Noticed our local weather station (well, as local as it can get) guy has still been doing his broadcasts from home while the rest of the people are in the studio. The past few days he's shaved his head. I don't know if it was from heat or if he has cancer.

Got up and moved stuff in my bathroom, swept and vacuumed until the stupid shop-vac clogged on a styrofoam peanut that came out of nowhere. Can't seem to dislodge it and the thing is full of the leveling powder.

I dumped the chunks of leveling mix in holes in my yard just to fill them up more.

I did my best to straighten out the vinyl. I think its as good as its going to get. I folded the vinyl over to adjust it and vacuumed underneath. Found mice got in through holes in the wall and chewed some edges. Its not enough to show through with baseboards in place. I'll plug those holes up with steel wool. Need to flatten secure, and trim the vinyl. There is a reddish stain near the tub-not sure from what-- but I'm planning to put a bathmat there anyway so it doesn't matter if I can't get it out. I got overheated so I'm taking a break.

I'll probably do some more cleaning in the kitchen once I cool off.

At least Mom's desk area is a teensy bit more organized now that I got her the end table with doors.

Yesterday I plugged up the mouse holes and had to go to the store to pick up Mom's RX but it wasn't ready so I just grabbed a few things. Found a nice trash can for my bathroom on clearance.

Went down to the workshop early this morning to look for round wood scraps or scraps small enough to fit in the door bore hole. No luck. But I found the hinge pins for the door I painted.

Rescued a lizard from the hallway and put it outside in the sun. It was too cold to move.

Just got notice that the battery I ordered from Lowes is ready to be picked up. I had a good nap after going down to the workshop. My body needed the rest. I saw a roll of tape behind some bins in the workshop that I couldn't reach that I'll have to go back down to grab with a grabber arm thingy.

Ordered a ball-latch that goes with dummy doors for the pantry door.

Friend cleared obstructions in my shop vac & changed the filter. Now I need to grab it out of the truck and see if it works. I'm going to see if my brother will go to Samsclub and Lowes with me. I'm out of pistachios, we're low on milk, and I need to grab a few other things. I'll make myself a list. If my brother will go with me we might stop at Panda for lunch. Also need to check mail.

When we get back I'll have to clean up the broken glass from where my brother got mad and kicked something into the door and broke one of the panes of glass. He's certainly not going to clean it up.

Mourning the passing of Elizabeth Regina II and finished 750 ml of Hendrick’s gin and the appropriate amount of tonic and number of fresh limes in the process. God save the Queen and, now, the King. I now need the hair of the dog that bit me.

Recommendation needed:

One of the bathroom sinks is running slowly due to a couple of things the least of which is two long-haired women who shed like cats. The other thing is that I set the max open height of the stopper a little too low in the attempt at keeping things out of the drain that shouldn't be allowed into the drain.

I could do the right thing and remove the bits that operate the drain assembly and cleaning it out properly but I am feeling lazy and wanted to know if any of you can recommend the best commercially available liquid drain cleaner to use until I get around to doing it properly?

I use those plastic stemmed, barbed, thingamajiggies. They cost about $1.00, pre Biden and now $5.00 post Biden. They work great catching hair!

I have a septic tank so I never use chemical drain cleaners. I've used those things Havasu linked and they aren't a problem. The S-trap under my bathroom sink can't really be taken apart (I'm replacing it).
Has anyone ever used https://www.amazon.com/SinkShroom-Revolutionary-Bathroom-Protector-Strainer/dp/B076QDB3FP/ ?
Looks like it would catch the hair before it can get down far and you just pull it out and clean the hair off of it.
I always put some sort of strainer in the sink when I wash my hair in it.

Reminded me that when I went to help my sister clean up her old house (she's using it as a rental) after she bout a new house almost every square inch of the bathroom was covered in her husband's hair shavings. I wiped and scrubbed the hell out of that entire bathroom. Weird thing is I'm better at cleaning at other people's houses than my own. I look at stuff in my house and get brain freeze.

Went to Lowes to pick up my rapid charger for the Worx batteries. Went to Samsclub after. While there my brother got messages from our friend that the friend's useless co-worker (and I use the term "worker" lightly) was mad that the boss expects him to actually show up and when he does show up to actually work. Dude was no showing, calling in, leaving early, getting high and just sitting around doing nothing while he was there. My friend was having to do his own work plus this other guy's work. And this dude was making $14/hr. They had a meeting the other day where the boss said no more excuses and laid out his responsibilities. Well, this clown didn't actually want to be reliable and do the job he was paid to do so he quit this morning. No 2 weeks notice. Just straight up wussed out. It's not like he's got health issues or anything. He's 21 and in great health but he's lazy. He apparently had a side job giving massages that paid more. My friend told him, if you make more money doing the other job, stop wasting my time by getting paid to do nothing here. My brother then submitted his resume & 2 hours after the other guy quit my brother was told he's as good as hired. It will be regular hours (unless of an emergency) and my brother won't have to be on his feet all the time and won't have to close or open the arcade up. It's an easier job with more pay. It will be fewer hours, but he's ok with that. His current boss was already aware that if that job opened up he'd jump at it. They just have to handle some paperwork stuff and make sure someone can fill my brother's job. Its in the same department but for a different company. Drawback is that my brother will have to triple pay taxes- Louisiana state taxes, NJ state taxes, and federal taxes. He'll have to talk to my friend about how he does his filings and if there are any deductions for having to pay for two states.

Anyway, we got Wendy's after samsclub and unloaded groceries. Went into town in the CR-V to put gas in it. It's getting 26mpg and needs an oil change.

Back home and had to cook for Mom. She's got her food and is happy now. I'm trying to muster the energy to go vacuum in the bathroom but my left knee hates me and I'm still tired from the heat. Will probably do that in awhile.

That "SinkShroom Revolutionary Bathroom Sink Drain Protector Hair Catcher, Strainer, Snare, Nickel Edition" is advertised as "plumber approved" so that's all I need to know! The good thing about Amazon prime is that they do refunds "few questions asked" so why not? (I'd literally kill for a Wendy's triple right about now!)

My brother got a Wendy's triple and they let him substitute the drink with a chocolate frosty. I just got the grilled chicken sandwiches because I was craving grilled chicken. I wish they had mushroom swiss burgers. I haven't had one of those in awhile.

If you get the sinkshroom, let me know how it works. I'll be happy if it actually helps.

There are other hair catchers that sit above the drain. Not sure why she's opposed to the sinkshroom. Probably because she doesn't have to clean the hair out of the drain when it gets clogged. If she had to unclog the drain she'd probably be all for it. I'm all for it since I have to clean the drains. LOL.

I FINALLY finished my bathroom floor. I vacuumed (had some issues with crappy little shopvac-- had to kick it to make it work) swept, vacuumed more, pulled up edges, trimmed off the insulation stuff so I could put down tape. Trimmed the vinyl up. Pulled up some nails that were in the way, had to cut out piece of old vinyl stuck under stuff (and in the way), pulled up remnants of the old carpet that was in the bathroom before, got the perimeter tape down, flatted vinyl onto it. Got vinyl rolled under the toekick, and I finished with cramming vinyl under the band on the edge of the carpet. It didn't want to stay up enough to have anything cram under it so I had to pry with my thumbs inch by inch and use a putty knife to cram the vinyl under. It's all installed now. There is one area where it has a crease in front of the vanity but I don't care because I will be putting a bath mat down in that spot. Next step is to clean up (I left it a mess), get adhesive off my scissors, wait until Monday for it to have been a week for the leveling to cure, and then I'll bring in the toilet. I need to get some bins in there to put away stuff that is on the counter. Then I can begin the decluttering of stuff from the rest of the bathroom, put tools away that are in the bath tub and such. Although, that isn't urgent since the shower isn't hooked up to water.

My wife's will is too strong. I recommended that she and our daughter do the "Sinead O'Connor" look but they refused.
