We're getting a green, sandy residue, in the master bath tub (and also in guest room rubs)

Been going on for a cupla years, (only from hot water taps) what we've done (with no positive effect)

Replaced hot water heaters 08/2024

Replaced master tub fixtures 07/2024

Short term disconnect of recirculating pump

Run rubs for hours to "flush" hot water line (with filter on spigot removed as it would clog)

Our plumber (certified, master plumber) is at his wit's end, at least for a relatively easy fix. The green residue is sandy in texture. There are also darker specs, fewer in number.

Anyone have an idea that doesn't involve a whole house hot water filter system (tho a far preferable option than tearing down walls, etc..)

Definitely an option. My concern is that we may have corroding copper pipe(s). Then, I'd be treating the symptom while the problem gets worse (IF it's corroding copper pipes). Thnx for the input.
While that's true you didn't answer the question. The reason I asked is cause that looks suspiciously like filtration media. I was wondering if you had a backwashing filter that may have malfunctioned. Judging by the reply I'm gonna go with no. Well or municipal water?
