We have a new well system our switch is set to 40/60 . Well is approximately 150 ft down on a 3/4 HP pump . Ever since our pump broke and it was replaced with the exact same system when we turn the hose on our well pump turns off and we have to reset it at the switch . Pressure switch was replaced but that is clearly not the issue … inside the house we have no problems but it’s only when the hose is used . We can use it if the hose is literally trickling water but soon as we even do have a turn on the faucet it kicks the pump off within 20 seconds and we lose all pressure … HELP last thing we want to do is pull that pump again any help or ideas on how to fix this would be appreciated.

Sounds like you may have a pressure switch that cuts the pump off if the pressure drops too low. Then the pressure switch has to be manually reset.

Demand could be more than the pump/well can flow and the pressure is dropping below the safety switch setting.

You could run the switch at 30-50 and the safety cut off will swing about 10 psi below the cut in pressure of 30 psi. So the safety will act at around 20psi.
This may stop it from happening, maybe not.

You would need to adjust the air charge if you have a bladder tank to about 28psi and you would need to adjust the cut in pressure to 30 psi. Before you adjust the bladder pressure tank the system needs to be off and at zero psi.

You could try that or wait for someone that’s more experienced with well systems to advise you here. Well systems are not my speciality.

As was said, if you have a pressure switch with the little start lever on the side, get rid of that switch. Get one without the start lever on the side so you can see what the pump is really doing.
