Hello,

I have the following problem with my pump pressure controller: When I switch the unit on it shows failure and the pump consequently does not start. However, after I restart the pressure controller, it will never show failure (no matter how long or how many times it is used) until switched off and on again.

At first I thought the problem is to do with the mechanical part, so I cleaned it thoroughly. However, I then noticed that if I leave the unit on, it never fails; which led me to deduce that the problem is not mechanical but electrical instead, and only occurs when the controller has been just switched on. Somebody showed a trick of taping a small magnet to the side of controller near the three lights (power, failure, restart); which worked for me for four days and then it stopped working. I then upgraded the hack and I am currently using a bigger magnet that I taped to a stick: when the unit shows failure, I bring the magnet close to the controller and it starts working again. I obviously cannot keep using this hack forever as I am starting to feel a little bit prehistoric.

I believe the problem is electrical. What is the component that most likely has failed? Is it the electrical relay? Why are magnets helping in this situation? What is the cheapest solution in this case? Soldering a brand-new relay?

Many thanks.
