Ok, did some kitchen remodeling and moved a wall back 4'. This moved the location of the fridge. I ran a new water line to the fridge via the attic from water line coming into the house in the garage. I live on a slab and the sink is on the other side of the kitchen seperated by an arch way making it difficult to run water line thru wall without doing some major dry wall demo and repair. My quistion is, living in northern Indiana what are the odds the line freezes even if I insulate?? Are there options for running plumbing thru attics or is this a major no no??

How long of a run , what type of piping , where in the attic (lay on ceiling joist, Attach to roof joist, ran between ceiling joist ect.)

Depends on how cold Indiana is haha. I live in Canada and its usually around -20F or so on average and that would not be advisable. If its plastic it will have some give unlike copper which will crack almost instantly after freezing. If the temperatures are anywhere near the -10 or 0 mark I wouldn't suggest that. If you wanted you could insulate and heat tape the line I suppose. But that kinda defeats the cold water for a fridge.

Ok, decided to rerun. This is a 1/4" copper line with compression fittings about 25' run thru attic. I think this may be a recipe for disaster. Decided to do this right, it will require some drywall demo and repair but will be worth it in the long run. Thanks for all your help!
