On and off for a couple years I would smell sewer gas coming from the laundry closet and have researched in an attempt to fix. The past week, it has been constant and unbearable. I can smell it in the entire house! This is in our bedroom too!

I installed the washer and drier in a second floor closet about six years ago when I bought the house. It didn't have accessible laundry and that was the only place it could go. The drain may not be exactly to specs, but its close (not much room to work with). I ran a snake thru the vent yesterday and did not notice any obstruction. I also didn't notice any sewer gas smell coming out of the vent either!

I'm really baffled! It looks like it should work fine and the guy at the plumbing shop said it looked fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! I would like to narrow this down before I pull the washer from the closet. As you can tell from the pics, that in and of itself is quite a job (I have to remove the door framing). Oh, and [/B][/B]yes, I know the tee is upside down. I wouldn't think that would matter.

Thanks in advance!

Santee needs to be installed properly, you need 4 inches of pipe between trap and santee, and no union traps concealed in wall. It must be a glue trap.

Not to spec but close? Sorry sir, that is nothing close to spec.

With it piped like that, you are likely siphoning your own trap seal, giving you the stink.

1. The tee does matter
2. Tell the guys at your plumbing shop to get some glasses.

WTF? Tee upside down doesn't matter? Between that and the other issues, you are lucky it took this long.

Thank you for the 'constructive advice.' I'll re-work it and see if that solves the problem.
