Hello,

This is my first (but not last) visit to this forum, hoping I can get some help.

I purchased a DuPont filtered water system for my kitchen sink, installed no trouble, but the faucet started to leak, couldn't be repaired (as far as I could tell), so I purchased another RO filter type faucet online to replace it with.

Now comes the trouble. I thought I would use the same compression fittings from the previous faucet, since they were the same (so I thought).

They are NOT.:(

No problem, I will go to local HD and get the right one.

WRONG.:(

The pipe on the new faucet was advertised as 1/4" OD quick fit shank. The pipe is about 1/2" diameter, and appears to be the same size as the old faucet, but the threads appear finer.

The guy at HD thought it was 1/4" also, but when I tried to screw the compression fitting on to the faucet (which I brought along) it would begin to thread, but then stop, again threads not matching.

Any opinion/ideas? Could this possible be a proprietary size for a water filter company? Unfortunately, the faucet I bought did not have a name brand on the box- I am trying to contact the seller to get that info.

Appreciate any input.

you are trying to thread a nps thread onto a fine thread and the Ramp spacing is different. the sizing should be the same but as mentioned the threads will not match i am not sure but i would wager there is a fitting that should addapt this fitting,, pics would help and i would suggest a plumbing wholesaler be your next visit as they would be better equipped to help you then the incapablle monkeys at big box hardware stores.
