Hello- I just switch from a 1/2 HP pump with brushes to a brushless and it does not work with my system. I am using a float switch to fill a tank and the new pump has a little switch on the casing that must always be activated thus making the float switch useless. Is there a way to modify/ bypass that annoying switch??

So everytime power is disconnected from the pump you must manually flip the on/off switch on the pump to start it back up ?

A switch is just a switch no matter where it is. Try connecting the other wire from the motor to the float switch. Maybe that one is the same as being switched at the motor.

It looks like that switch is supposed to be on/off, maybe you’re not pressing it hard enough, or pressing on the wrong side of it?

No it automatically resets to off when power is turned off by float switch

Hmmm. then how would my tank get filled automatically.. I was wondering if the pump had a way of bypassing the switch but I dont know about this type of design.

The switch that must be reset on the pump would need to be bypassed and I would then use a piggyback float switch to plug the pump into to control the pump on/off

I can’t tell ya how to bypass the switch because I’ve never used that pump before or opened it up.

If you’re any good with electrical wiring, you could certainly open it up and bypass the switch, but I am with the others that it hardly seems worthwhile. Get a pump that doesn’t have this problem.
