I tried using this tool I got at Homedepot to unscrew the drain but it just broke of the t in the middle. I then tried to hammer the rest off and it took the top off and left the flange. Is there any way I can take the rest out to replace without taking the whole tub out?

I added a pic of how it looks for reference.

If you can get behind the tub and replace that tub shoe it would be good to do.

Otherwise you could make a couple cuts vertically in what’s left of the strainer drain then pry it out with a thin flathead screwdriver. If you cut too deep and ruin your female threads in the tub shoe, you’re screwed and it’ll have to be replaced.

Could be a big deal if you dont know what you are doing. soak in penetrating oil and try to unscrew at all costs. Were you replacing it for looks or did the parts fail?
