Does anyone have any tips for removing a sillcock. Appears to be threaded/screwed in at the connection in the basement, but I can't seem to unscrew it. The wife was turning as I was holding the connection with pliers.

Also tried pulling out the stem with no luck.

You need to hold where the red marks are and turn where the blue marks are.

This will unscrew the entire valve from the piping. CE127152-6BDF-4421-BC28-4DC64F5EECD1.jpeg

First try driving a pencil into the stem to help you pull it out. They all pull out, because that is how they are repaired and originally assembled.

Unless you have beyond-plumber's strength, pliers will not be worthwhile tools if you are serious about removing the entire assembly.
Crescent wrenches of suitable length depending on one's strength.
Two 14" crescent adjustable wrenches might be a minimum.
