Hello Friends,

I want to thank all of your for your advice in replacing a length of corroded pipe with PVC. Normally, one can take dirty and disgusting satisfaction in a job well done. And I think I did a pretty good job for my first time, BUT

Now the sink fills up and the water goes nowhere...not even a little. It should have told me something when I cut the old pipe and whole lot of water came out. Normally, I would think the clog had something to do with my repair, but please have a look at the picture below. Water is leaking from the area circled, which is well below and to the right of my repair. So I know water is getting that far. If you can't see it close enough, it is a copper pipe going into a larger iron pipe (waste pipe I think). Water is leaking RIGHT where the two meet.

So I think it's safe to assume that somewhere between the end of that copper pipe and the sewer system, something is blocking it...perhaps a curious mouse crawled into the pipe when it was broken. There is a big iron "U" to the right, that I don't know the purpose of.

I need to get the drain working again or my wife is gonna kill me. Can ANYONE tell me the quickest, cheapest, least disgusting way to solve this problem?

I am REALLY sick and tired of being dirty, wet and tired.

have the line augered, then you get to stay clean.. it will cost a bit though.

the run appears short enough that you could also try cutting into the line and using a hand auger or failing that a shop vac. re connect the line with a mj after.
