So I've got my DWV all assembled, I pumped up the balloon and filled it, and almost all of the test caps leaked.

I used the cheap thin little plastic caps that set inside of the pipe so that just the rim of the pipe is bonded to the cap.

I was a little suspicious when I glued them on, it seems like I'd need an absolutely perfect cut on the pipe to get these to effectively work.

I plan to get the caps that I can slip over the pipe and glue. I just wanted to see if anyone else had problems with these caps, or if I

used them in the wrong application, or installed them wrong.

Cheers,

You are correct that the pipe must be cut straight. We used that type test cap all the time with no problems, but we also cut are PVC pipe with a chop saw.

Thanks.

You think I can glob some glue around the seal and try again? I might try it.

Just putting more solvent around the outside of the joint won't prevent it from leaking. If you can't remove the test caps and re-cut the pipe square then go with your own solution of using what you call slip caps.
