Tap into 3/4 PEX to run water line to fridge.

I have already posted once on here and got a ton of help (Thanks!!!) So here goes again!

I have a 3/4 PEX pipe directly above the fridge (basement fridge) I would like to run a water line to. I see kits for 1/2 pipe's but not 3/4 one. I already purchased a PEX cutter...what else do I need to buy to get this job done? It'd be so much easier if there was a kit but I haven't seen one ANYWHERE!!!

install a 3/4 x 3/4 x 1/2 tee in the line
run 1/2'' to the back wall of the fridge. stopp at approx 12'' off the floor

install a ice maker rough in box. hook your ice maker tubing to the valve

the tee, the rough in box, the pipe can be found in the big orange box store

Thank you. Just so I'm clear, I cut the line (after turning off the water), and just insert the tee? Do I need to crimp or anything? I keep reading conflicting things online about whether or not it needs to be crimped.

To do a quality job, yes, you need to install a crimp tee. You will need a 3/4"x3/4"x1/2" PEX crimp tee, 3/4" and 1/2" rings, 1/2" PEX pipe, an icemaker box with PEX crimp connection, and a combination 3/4" & 1/2" crimp tool. Maybe a couple of 1/2" PEX crimp 90's if you don't want to install the box upside down. Get a box with a shock arrester built in.

You could use the push fit PEX fittings , but I can not bring myself to trust them . :-(

We just finished replacing the water main from the house to the water meter ( in the alley ) . I used the 1" brass barbed fittings , crimp rings & PEX crimp tool .

To avoid buying the tool , see if there is any place you can rent the tool . Local store rented me a tool for a very reasonable price , but it turned out their tool did not go up to 1" . So I purchased

It is tradition to use blue PEX for cold water , red PEX for hot water . And , what I did , white PEX for supply to the house .

Truth is , I am a PEX novice , but I did a fair amount of research it seems to have turned out OK . Praise the Lord !
