Strange sump pump

I moved into a new house a year ago and noticed a sump pump configuration that I've never seen before. The motor runs when I manually hit the switch on the pressure switch assembly, and it must be working because I don't get water in the basement. I just would like to know if any one else has seen one and how to test, and service if it a problem arises. Tank You
