Hi everyone,

I live in a two story townhome. The ceiling on my first floor recently started showing a brownish stain. I'm wondering if this is caused by a leaking pipe. Does this look familiar to anyone and any suggestions on what is causing this? Thanks!

Looks like a moisture stain to me. Do you have plumbing above that area ?

Thanks for the reply IFIXH20. I'm not sure if there is plumbing above the area. The room is the dining room and above that is the master bedroom. Below the dining room is the laundry room where the washer/dryer and where the water drains. I can probably ask my association if there are pipes above the area.

If the DR extends out past the upstairs exterior, there is likely to be some sort of roof above the stained area. If so, the likely cause of the stain is rain water or snow melt infiltration. Contact whomever is responsible for maintenance.
